But we do know~~there´s no real out of sight, out of mind.

There, out on a branch with her bursting trash,
She clamber'd to hang, when overload'd it broke;
And down her extravagant rubbish and herself
Fell in the weeping brook.

Her trail of waste spread wide;
And, mermaid-like, a while it kept her afloat:
While she sang repeated synthetic snatches of marketing lies;
As one incapable of seeing the damage done
To her companion fish, distress'd and chok'd
In a poison'd world.

But long it could not be
Till that her synthetic mess, 
Heavy with inability to ever disappear,
Pull'd the poor wretch from her oblivious song
To artificial death.

Bottled water sucks! Yet it is now ubiquitous due to aggressive and deceitful marketing. It harms us through the chemicals leaching from the bottles into the water.  It harms the environment through its entire lifecycle, from production to transportation to disposal. As of 2010, every single second, 1000 people open a plastic bottle of water in the US...and there is nowhere on this planet to safely dispose of all these bottles. Let´s rethink our absurd water consumption habits!

{Plastics} can take over 500 years to degrade… that is- if they’re lucky enough to <rest in peace in a landfill>. And what if washed to sea? It may disintegrate faster, but in reality, breaks into smaller and smaller {{{microplastics}}}... living an excruciatingly <immortal> life :: leaching toxins /eternally/ :: infiltrating every invisible corner of this Earth, even air on pristine mountaintops >> and your blood > your lungs > wombs and even > newborn babies.

Since the ^^rise of plastic after WWII, {the plastic industry} has produced more than #8 billion tonnes of plastic#. The weight of ~1142857142 African bush elephants. ~1391 Pyramids of Giza. ~18x the human population. Enough to cover the Earth ~16x with Lego blocks. // 

We need to get off this ~~rollercoaster ride… plastic production is on a /steep/ /exponential/ /increase/. In only °one decade° (between 2004 and 2015), we made [[as much plastic]] as in the °five previous decades°. Why? Today, half of the plastic we produce today is #single-use#.  >> Used once >>>lasting forever<<.

There are >~150 million tonnes of plastic~ in the world's oceans now…and **2 truckloads** are added every ~60 seconds~. That adds up to +8 million tonnes+ every year…enough to heap {5 full grocery bags} onto each bit of the °coastline° on the entire Earth. And we're adding more+ at an ^^exponentially faster ^^rate^^. By *2025**, those {{5 bags will double to 10 bags}} per /year.

Where is it all ~hanging out~? Have you heard of the °Great Pacific Garbage Patch°? It's the biggest one out of several around the world. {Plastic} entering the ocean is moved far >> around the globe by @gyres... = large systems of »swirling »rotating »currents caused by :: [wind currents (hello Zephyr), the Earth's rotation, and landmasses]. The @gyres suck the plastic into the center, and these immense swaths of ocean are called {{garbage patches}}. In reality, it's more like a [»plastic soup«]:: trillions of pieces of plastic debris breaking further and further down into {{{microplastics}}} that toxify ecosystems and food chains ^^indefinitely^^. // Yum~~~
