A promise, a conversation - this piece was created as a way to capture a moment between to people - the moment a promise is made. I wanted to use a looser style to capture the softness of mood. The painting is also a homage to classical 90s anime.

The 2am Diaries

Born on opposite sides in a forever expanding and contracting Universe, there is only one point in every cycle that the two lovers can meet. This point is a little place at the edge of Orion. Sadly, their embrace can only last a few moments... they must then part again. However, they are not in misery. Why? Because the Universe is infinite in its life cycle, the lovers know that they will always meet again.

The Lovers on Orion

In the distant future, long after humans had perished or evolved, two beings stood. After a lengthy battle, they reached an understanding and decided to trade their celestial treasures. One desired a treasure so bright it could be seen from his blue realm. The other sought a treasure which faintly glowed, illuminating her dark realm but allowing her to see the stars. The long forgotten beauty of the night and day, of dusk and dawn, was found again in that moment.

There was a curious maiden who gazed longingly into the underworld, captivated by the mystery of what lay down there. While others looked to the stars above, she pondered the realm below her feet. 

One day, Death himself noticed her gaze and was drawn to her curiosity. He decided to invite her down to visit his eerie realm. The maiden, surprising Death, found beauty amongst the lost souls. Death revealed to her the secrets and wonders of a finite life. She would repeatedly visit, finding it harder to leave each time. She was falling in love with Death, who had also grown fond of her. 

Sadly, living souls could not survive long in the underworld and Death had to stop the maiden's visits. Upset, she asked him to take her soul, but Death refused, telling her it was not time, but he would visit her in the world above when it was. 

The maiden left, and Death looked on. He knew she would eventually forget him, but at least she would live a full life, and that made him happy.

“Somewhere in the realm of sleep lives the Fear Catcher; not to be confused with the Dream Catcher. When coming across this being, most humans assume they have entered a nightmare. The Fear Catcher, however, is only there to consume your fear. They look for the souls who venture too deep into the dream world in search of peace. They are attracted to humans who have let their physical pain manifest through their night bodies. Do not be scared if you ever come across the Fear Catcher, instead, thank them and tell them your name so they will never forget you. ”

The Fear Catcher

At the edge of the dream world sat a great tree known as the Night Willow. A special tree with a faint glow that was a beacon for lost travellers searching for a way out. It was looked after by a kind and gentle Guardian. 

One night, a lost dreamer approached the Night Willow, mesmerised by its beauty. She had been wandering for what felt like days, desperate to find her way home. The Guardian appeared beside her and comforted her gently; he knew some humans would be scared of his appearance. Slowly, the Guardian assured her that she was at the end of the dream world and that he would get her home safely. 

He approached the Night Willow, finding the branch which contained her dream. He asked her to touch the branch and close her eyes. After a few seconds, she opened her eyes and saw the morning sun flickering through her bedroom window. Relieved and knowing everything was just a dream, she smiled and whispered thank you to the Guardian of the Night Willow as she got up for the day.

“You think that’s enough to take us down!?”

A personal piece inspired by my love of classical anime - I wanted to make a painting inspired by shows like Gunbuster and Gurren Lagann. I tried to use a technique combining implied detail with a softer style found in old manga covers

Star Buster

When everything felt too much - I created this painting when I felt overwhelmed with all around me. It is a time when you have to stay calm and present your best self on the surface, but inside you are imploding. It could be for many reasons or no reason at all - but the world around you is collapsing like an old star. 

However, I hope people can still find a sense of calm- feeling like this is overwhelming, but there is also comfort in shared experiences. These experiences tell us we are not alone.

The Sensory

Amidst ethereal flora, Death guided the bewildered girl through his garden. She awoke, disoriented beneath unfamiliar constellations, as roots curled like galaxies around her. Each step unveiled the mesmerising dance of life: birth, blossoming, death, and rebirth.

Though grief burdened her heart, Death's garden whispered solace. In due time, they reached a unique spot—the garden's darkest area. There, a special flower flourished, bearing the shape of a crescent moon. Death, gazing at the girl, softly murmured, 'This is your flower; your grief has nurtured its bloom. I have tended to it, nourishing it with your cherished memories. It is now time for you to take it home.'

With these words, the girl became aware of her presence and the profound loss she had endured. Yet, this time, she comprehended that healing was the path forward. She gratefully thanked Death, and though her sorrow lingered, she found the strength to return, feeling that it was alright to do so.

Within Death's Garden

Sat alone under the pale blue moon, Rhea felt a great unease. Suddenly, a dark figure appeared, rising from the mountain underneath her. Infatuated with Rhea's beauty, the dark being revealed himself to be Cronus. The two beings spoke for a while, and Cronus asked Rhea to be his bride. Initially uncertain, Rhea eventually accepted Cronus as her husband. Grand promises of powerful children and a kingdom more extensive than the Galaxy itself were enough to sway her. Something was off, though; as Cronus spoke his words, tears streamed down his eyes. Was this an omen of a cursed marriage, or could his body not hide his deceitful ways?

This was to be a tale of tragic love, but under that pale moon and starry sky, there seemed a glint of hope.

Tales from The Cosmos

When a Seraph dies, there is a convergence. A spot where all its knowledge slowly begins to disintegrate. The Seraphim live for many cycles, so the convergence is a unique event; sometimes, 4 or 5 cycles can pass before it is observed. It is sad to watch a being of such beauty and greatness decompose - yet it is also comforting to know that even Seraphim do not live forever. 

During the event, what look like tears fall from the Seraph’s eye. Once the convergence ends, a seed will be left at the spot. Angels will stand by and collect this seed, which will help grow new life in the silent parts of the cosmos.

My fourth NFT on Foundation. This piece is a decomposition of my earlier foundation works in a way. I also wanted to pay homage to a few of my favourite creators like Hideaki Anno, Katsuhiro Otomo and Satoshi Kon.

They said the sword would shimmer when the silver-haired warrior reached the end of their journey. The warrior's faithful companion, Star Walker, could now also rest.

As the warrior looked up, they saw the sky split, half-day and half-night. Just as their ancestors foretold, when a member of their bloodline would return to their homeland, not only would the trees and animals dance, but even the sun and moon would be eager to greet them.

Machine Dreams and Electric Whispers

Before me stood the Black Knight, hand of the king, wielding Moonkiller, a blade whispered to slice planets. He was the last obstacle to my quest for vengeance. As he unsheathed the crimson blade, its brilliance matched the tales. Yet, the stories failed to convey his colossal size, blocking out skies with an aura that summoned thunder and lightning. Fear gripped me, but with no alternative, I readied myself, gripping my weapon tightly, determination eclipsing fear.

Under Falling Stars

It was a strange night. The air was heavy, and the lights of the city flickered in the distance. A lightholder, a guide for lost souls, had come to replenish her beacon. The Watcher, what some humans call an Archangel, gently restored it.

“You seem weary,” the being said.

“No, I am well. It is just… I have not seen so many lost souls in all my time in this realm. They struggle more and more to notice my beacon. I fear I may lose some.”

“Those you lose, you are meant to,” said the Watcher. “They will find their way in one life or another.”

As the Watcher renewed the beacon, the souls stirred and flickered like fireflies. With each one drawn to the light, the heaviness in the air lifted slightly. Yet the city still lay restless and broken, and the guide’s burden grew heavier. Still, her beacon shone steadfast against the night. And though she feared the loss of many, she vowed to remain, for to leave her post would be to abandon the few who yet sought her guidance.
