'Invoke' means to call forth, to evoke, to put into effect - and this action in itself has been 'answered' by those that have supported me thus far unconditionally. This is a special piece made specifically for an exhibition during Frieze 2023 New York. It will be displayed on a large, curved LED screen on Broadway, Times Square - right in the heart of the city, from the 15th to the 21st of May.

[ze Luna] has been an ongoing thematic body of work that started since late 2021, amidst the covid pandemic, and has been and is - an overarching collection brand in my art. This is the second piece to be publicly exhibited in a prominent physical location in a major city (the first being in Hong Kong), and the second to be displayed as a short animation with BGM.

[ G E N E S I S ] is a synonym for a new start, a new beginning. It symbolizes an origin. It is a symbolic creation at a time of this writing; a homage to a start of a new era as we usher in the new age of Web3 and the rise of NFT art globally. This piece hopes to symbolize that optimism and serve as a genesis for change. A moment in history.

Like all the other pieces in the collection, this piece seeks to - harmonize art, fashion & technology and through the process of introducing elements both new and familiar, past & present, to materialize new-age sensibilities.

This is a special piece made specifically for the Art Basel Hong Kong 2023 - The Sound of Pixels Exhibition. It will be displayed on a 19.2m by 71.7m LED screen on Causeway Bay - a massive outdoor full HD LED screen right in the city's energetic retail heart, from the 17th to the 24th of March.

ze Luna [FND]

::: [ze Luna] is a project that seeks to encapsulate the coming together of art & technology; blurring the boundaries between man and his environs, the real and the surreal, the tangible and the intangible. :::

Titled "On wings of Serendipity", this piece is the 3rd of the [ze Luna] collection to be minted on Foundation; the rest of the collection distributed across other NFT platforms. 

It depicts the feeling of serendipity - a moment that is pleasant and joyful, a feeling that is attained by not consciously seeking it. Instead, this feeling finds you. It is delight & pleasure. Akin to being on wings above the clouds. It frees you in that moment of unexpected encounter.

It is essentially, an uncomplicated and innocent moment of unspoken bliss.

[Aoa] is the first that is minted on Foundation, and the 21st Luna to be created; the first 20 to be introduced on Opensea. [Aoa] embodies the beauty of compassion but wields the tenacity of a goddess. As an almighty Luna, she is above & superior.

The harmonization of art & technology, coupled with neo-mecha fashion sense gives [ze Luna] life. This piece embodies the mediation & negotiation between one & the other, and embracing this convergence as a source of interest & intrigue is what defines [ze Luna].

Defying and drifting between latent notions of one and the other, art & science - [ze Luna] situates itself as nourishment & quite literally, as fuel for the ether blockchain.

Foundation

_paperspace x Joon Young-Lee

A collaborative piece by _paperspace and Korean digital painter Joon Young-Lee.

Titled "Sanctuary", this piece seeks to express a refuge, a sense of serenity away from the external stimuli of the world.

Joon's powerful strokes and use of color seeks to portray seemingly the movement of clouds, of the sky and of emotion.

The calmness of clouds is coupled with the uncertain nature of rain - similar to life itself. We run many marathons, often in our minds - and sometimes we inevitably need an escape, a refuge, a sanctuary.

Coupled with Paper's aesthetics and avatar - in which her expression, her posture and style brings forth a certain sense of beauty amidst the uncertain tension, serves as a negotiation between the tangible and intangible, an invisible bridge between the visual and one's emotions.

The piece comes together to bring forth a state of being, and as an intensification of one's emotion.

[Singularity] is a piece that speaks about the rapid pace of technological advancements in today's day and age. Yet in this digital race, people sometimes lose themselves in this singularity.

Displaced, disrupted and lost; digitally, physically & psychologically. There is an increasing phenomenon and danger in which we are able lose ourselves and get left behind, willingly or not - into a liminal space between reality and irreality. What is real no longer matters - instead what feels real becomes the new reality. 

Yet, with new dangers also comes new opportunities. What lies at the edge of this new age? What doors will it open? There is a new eagerness, a new energy to, a new desire to explore the unknown.

Evolution is coming and it's inevitable.
So what will it be?

[Eden] is a piece that speaks about the blurring of boundaries between our worlds as virtual spaces are now becoming an increasingly attractive and viable alternative manifest of reality. With the advent of Web3 and the rapid rise in technological advancements, more and more people are taking up virtual personas - extensions of oneself in the digital space. 

The alternate reality, or so-called irreality, provides an ideal scenario and a desired aesthetic of oneself. The convergence of elements familiar and unfamiliar juxtaposes itself in otherworldly worlds, and in its midst emerges a form of beauty that is intoxicatingly attractive and aesthetically-pleasing.
It becomes a new paradigm of society's ideals; it becomes the new [Eden].
