The Walnut

When the God of Light is fighting the alien Cyborg who has come to destroy the universe, war breaks out and it is up to the inhabitants of the galaxy to unite the two sides and bring peace to the planet.

I could see my dad laughing and smiling while he's photographing us. I can tell him all about how I miss him and how my life is different now. He would give me hugs and smiles and say, 'Well this changes everything!

We are bombarded with information and misinformation, conflicting messages and opinions, statistics and stories. We are overwhelmed by the complexity and uncertainty of the situation. We are living in a collage of fragments, trying to piece together the truth and find a way out of the chaos.

This collection showcases the versatility and creativity of collage as an artistic medium. By combining images, videos, and various materials, I create new compositions that convey different messages and ideas.

Like a mosaic pieced together, the pandemic fractured our perception of reality and revealed the frailty of our world. Over a media storm, we were bombarded with conflicting narratives and misinformation, causing confusion and doubt. In the midst of this chaos, one truth remained: the need for caution and vigilance to protect ourselves and those around us. The human figure formed from a collage of newspaper pieces and headlines symbolizes the importance of staying informed and adapting to this new normal. The Covid mask serves as a poignant reminder that our actions have consequences and we must act responsibly to overcome this global crisis.
The uncertainty of a fact is a reflection of the blurred lines between reality and imagination, where truth is often subjective and shaped by the interests of those who want to force the world to believe it. It is not just a matter of the desires of those who seek to believe it, but the motives of those who promote the narrative that ultimately shape the perceived truth.

For my cranberry tart shoot, I used natural, soft light from the window and white polystyrene cardboard on the opposite side of the windows to soften the shadows. This approach highlighted the tart’s rich textures and vibrant colors, making it visually appealing. 
The aroma of fresh cranberries mixed with sugar and spices filled the kitchen, adding to the sensory experience.
I chose a marble background to complement the tart's homemade aesthetic. Scattered cranberries were added for an extra touch of detail. I styled it to look warm and inviting, just like home baking. My goal was to show the tart’s beauty and deliciousness through my photos.

I am a professional food photographer for more than 15 years. This is a collection of some of my shots.

I was in the kitchen making an apple pie. I had flashlights with softboxes set up to ensure good lighting. The light was crucial, especially on the white countertop, to make everything look clear and appealing.
I had a bowl of freshly chopped apples, and the smell was amazing. I rolled out the dough on parchment paper, feeling the smooth texture under my hands. Then, I carefully placed the apple pieces on the dough. They looked juicy and delicious. I sprinkled some cinnamon and brown sugar on top, making it smell even better.
As I worked, I enjoyed the simple process of making something tasty from scratch. The kitchen was filled with the comforting scent of apples and spices, and I couldn't wait to taste the final result.

hold parades and parties, sing and dance, and make offerings to lost loved ones.

She is wearing traditional Day of the Dead clothing, full of colors and with a strong cultural identity. 
Her face, painted with sugar skull makeup, tells the story of life and death. Her expressive eyes and black borders, combined with the designs of flowers and hearts, appear to open the gap between the living and the dead. 
Her brown-red hair is dotted with orange, red and purple roses and marigolds. These flowers are a guide for spirits returning to the living world. The patterns and colors of her traditional attire are a legacy of culture and honor. The intricate designs and textures show the skill and commitment put into each strand. 
Gold and red earrings hang, glinting in the light as she moves, a tribute to tradition and respect.

A TRUE STORY

Once, I was hired to shoot drinks at a new bar in town. The bar was always bustling with people, and the energy in the room was electric. Before beginning to shoot, I wanted to get a feel for the place, the drinks, and the vibe.
I brought my equipment and started setting it up. The bar staff was really helpful, moving things around, and even holding reflectors to help bounce light in the right direction. I was impressed with how cooperative and enthusiastic they were.
As I began to shoot, I experimented with different angles, lighting, and props. I used colourful backdrops and glasses, fruits, and flowers to create a fun and festive atmosphere. The bartenders provided tips and advice, suggesting ways to make the drinks look more appealing.
I took dozens of shots, carefully adjusting my camera settings and composition for each one. I wanted to make sure I captured the unique flavour and personality of each drink.
After several hours of shooting, I was exhausted. I packed up my equipment and headed to the bar. I prepared myself a Campari Orange with ice, in a normal water glass. Looking at that glass, I felt a sensation of satisfaction and contentment. I had spent the evening capturing the essence of the bar in my photographs, and now I was able to relax and enjoy the fruits of my labour. The glass looked almost like a work of art, with the way the light played off the ice and the liquid inside.
I took a deep breath and closed my eyes; the sounds of glasses clinking and people laughing faded into the background, and I focused on the beauty of the drink. When I opened my eyes, I noticed the condensation on the glass and the way the light refracted through the drops. It was a simple moment of beauty, and I knew that I had found something truly special. I couldn't help taking another photo.
The glass was wet and cold, and the lights of the bar behind it created a beautiful and unforgettable image. It was a moment of joy and accomplishment, and I knew that I would always remember it.

Over three decades ago, at the age of 21, I penned a heartfelt poem titled "Life is An Hourglass".
As time marched on, the original piece of paper vanished. I tried to find it in each corner of my house but didn't find it. I have searched in every drawer, shelf, and digital folder without results.
So, instead of lamenting myself, I thought that I could recreate the poem, allowing it to reemerge from the depths of memory. 
With pen in my hand, I started to write and the words flowed once more, guided by the echoes of my youthful voice. The poem, though not a replica of the original, retained its essence, its message of time's preciousness resonating as powerfully as ever.
This poem aims to caress the souls of readers, bring tears of emotion, and awaken deep feelings about the beauty and transience of life.

I took this picture on a sunny morning in February 2024 while flying from Rome to Paris. It's not every day that I use photos taken with my iPhone, but some of them turn out quite special. There, about 1266 meters above the sea, Montecristo Island emerged beneath me, with the grand mountains of Corsica in the back. The conditions were perfect; the light was just right, casting a sublime glow over this legendary isle that once sparked the imagination of Alexandre Dumas. It was as if the island itself was telling its tales, a testament to the beauty and mystery of the Mediterranean preserved through time. The sea's clear blue melded with the sky, a serene scene so picturesque that it reminded me why I fell in love with photography: to capture these ephemeral moments of pure wonder. This image was born on a late spring morning, with jasmine blooming wildly in my garden and peaches ripening in a white wicker basket, freshly picked from the local market. I chose the morning light to paint the scene because it is softer.

She learns in this theater of permission and restraint that the deepest intimacy exists in the gap between what is given and what is taken; true strength sometimes wears the costume of subserviency.
 She knows the complex mathematics of desire—how vulnerability may be used like a weapon, how the most beautiful power results from selecting your own limitations.  Her smile behind the curtain reveals secrets about what it means to be both hostage and captor in plans that challenge received knowledge.

For example, when twilight marks the boundary between the last light of day and the first sound of night, something ancient awakens.

When the sun goes down, everything is quiet, and desire learns a new language made of breath and waiting.  
Thoughts glide like calm tides, conveying secrets to a moonlit coast where the air smells nice.  
Every part of the body is a poem, and every flaw is taken to a place where softness is the only rule.  
The shape starts to speak in shimmering parentheses as the light fades, as beautiful as a promise spoken to the night.  
There is a calm place between breathing in and out: a velvet structure, a cathedral of fire, and a chandelier of time that is slowing down. The heart writes its name in invisible gold and puts it on the tongue of stillness, where it turns into nectar.  
The petals of shadow open and close in a ceremonial way.  
The light comes and passes like a tide that brings back things of value.  
It says: “dedication to becoming.” 
Sealed with "Being gentle makes you strong."  
And a peaceful morning keeps rising at the edge of touch.  
A gentle sunlight keeps coming up all along the horizon of touch. It is patient, exact, and unavoidable, and it is always feminine.
