Carnival Caravan is a generative art project and an expression of joy and happiness through math and geometry. It is my most complex code to date and it yet looks simple in the resulting outputs. I guess there is certain beauty to make things look simple.

It Was Always The Eyes is a series conveying the message of silent understanding. When you meet a person who’s been through a lot, I think quite often you can see the sentiment of their past in their eyes. Most of us protect ourselves by wearing a “mask” (some do so more strongly than others), but the eyes of a person barely ever deceive.  It Was Always The Eyes, strips away that mask and focuses fully on just the eyes. Even in a deceptively simple art piece, the result is quite powerful. Somehow allowing a lot of emotions to come crashing through.

It Was Always The Eyes #325

To me this image is a beautyful metaphore to us citizen of web3 that are still active during the historical bear market of 2022. We are still here. And we are not leaving. Resilience!  
  
While cruising through the deserts that surround Dubai in the United Arab Emirates, i suddenly had the feeling of seeing a fata morgana. 
In the distance, it looked like there were trees growing in the middle of this vast landscape of sand dunes.

I drove a little closer and confirmed that i was not just having issues with my eyesight and was instantly excited!

These trees are known as Ghaf trees (Prosopis Cineraria) and they can survive in conditions that would kill most plants.  
Standing strong in the middle of a deadly environment, their greens showed me that there´s always the chance to adapt and survive even the weirdest situations. Therefore this image carries a message to me that is very important!

I hope this image gives you hope and strength too!

Technique: 
Single capture at 500mm focal length to compress the perspective and further enhance the surreal mood of the scene. Signature editing in Adobe Photoshop balancing tonalities and colors. 

Resilience #49/100

This image of the northern lights is one of the first night photographs that I was really happy with. I won several awards with it back in the days, and it still is a personal benchmark for me.

It had been a dark night with only a little moonlight to light up the surroundings. And I arrived at the beach way too early- waves were crashing against the rocks on the beach and I was not getting any reflections. I decided to wait a little bit in my car and quickly fell asleep.

Luckily I had set my alarm a million of times throughout the night and eventually one of these alarms managed to wake me up from my sudden coma. I glimpsed out the windows and noticed that the tide had been sinking to the perfect level for reflections. And that everyone else had already left the beach as it was now in the middle of the arctic night.

So it happened that once I arrived back on the beach, the Aurora borealis started dancing faintly in the night sky. After a while, the activity increased and I was gifted with a perfect mirror unfolding in the wet sands.

The elements aligned once more- the night ablaze.

This island really exists- you can find right next to a bigger island called Orust (Sweden). It looks a little different in reality though.
While observing the island from the birds eye view, i noticed i had mixed emotions. In lack of depth in the top down perspective, while it looks beautyful to me, at the same time it looks overcrowded.
In postproduction, i isolated the island from the surroundings to further enhance both of these feelings.

An arctic fulmar playfully flies around right beneath Mulafossur, the popular waterfall just next to the iconic village Gasadalur on the Faroe islands. 
This image was shot in pretty hard conditions with a supertele photo lens. 

After taking the obligatory images showcasing the grand scene in all 
it´s glory, i started focussing on the birds that seemed to be completely unbothered by the harsh weather. 

In this decade of landscape photography, i learned about myself that i prefer finding places that really speak to me and visit them many times. Instead of the constant search for something new. 
I need to establish a connection to the place itself in order to find my own visual voice.

The Faroe islands are one of these places that i keep visiting since many years. A tiny archipelago in the middle of nowhere in the atlantic ocean which features fantastic nature and a very wild and untamed environment. 

Passenger is not only a picture about a bird flying across a waterfall. 
It´s an image about myself.  
I am the passenger. 
You can be the passenger too!

The mighty Gullfoss is one of the most famous waterfalls in Iceland. 
It´s a beautiful sight for itself when shown in all it´s glory as a grand landscape. 

I personally tend to focus on the details of nature these days. 
Once i slow down, take a deep breath and let these places work their magic on my soul- i enter a state of deep relaxation and feel grounded.

That´s what i did in the moment when i took this image.
The sound of nature is powerful at this place and while i drifted away in thoughts i noticed how the dynamic of huge amounts of water revealed the soul of this place to me. 

I met the ghosts of Gullfoss. Can you feel their spell?

Resilience- Limited Edition by Felix Inden

The Faroe islands are a chain of islands located far out in the middle of the Atlantic ocean. It was hard to reach them until only a decade ago- nowadays they are only a few hours flight away from Copenhagen in Denmark. If the conditions allow your flight to land, that is.

The weather on the Faroe islands is the wildest I have ever encountered, but due to their location, it rarely gets really cold. Therefore in winter, most of the days are very stormy and rainy- but snow is a rather rare sight.

That's why I felt like I was in heaven during a trip in March some years ago, when I woke up to a winter wonderland. Many roads were blocked because of snowdrifts and icy conditions. But I managed to make it to this fantastic place above one of my favorite fjords. After pushing my way to the peak through waist deep snow, I found my perfect composition in this pristine snow line.

The elements aligned after a few cold hours when a new snowstorm drifted in. After returning from this shooting session, temperatures started rising again. The snow quickly melted and only a day later the islands were stripped of their white dress.

A moment of joy was had!

“Moments of Joy - When Elements Align" is a collection of 10 unique 1/1 landscape photography NFTs by landscape photographer Felix Inden. Felix has been chasing unique light conditions around the planet for over ten years. The places he visits are all very beautiful by nature, but it's only during the elusive and short lived moments, when all elements align that he can portray them in their full glory. Moments of Joy is the description of what Felix feels when all things come together to allow him to capture one of these images. These moments are what fuels his creativity and this is when he forgets everything around him, enters a flow state and drifts away while trying to portray a majestic moment in time before it vanishes.

My homelands in the Rheinland in Germany are not what i consider epic landscapes when i compare them to my usual hunting grounds in northern scandinavia or the southern realms of this world. 

However, when the right weather conditions hit, these rather random places can shine. On a foggy autumn morning some years ago, my local views were suddenly transformed into a mysterious fairytale wonderland. 

While wondering around i started focussing on this view, which is rather inaccessible due to the local farmers and their cattle grounds.

Fog was drifting in and out and the sun kept throwing spotlights into this scene, making the autumnal shrubs and little trees shine in wonderful shades of gold. 

I opted for a very long focal range of 500mm to exclude all the clutter from the scene while focussing on this one tree that had already lost all its leaves. Waiting for the right moment to take my picture i was completely in the zone. Hearing whispers in the distant fog.  

A truly magical morning!  

In postproduction i focussed on the dreamy feeling i had on location and further worked it into this file by selectively enhancing contrasts and saturation to guide the viewers eye.
