At times photographs are more than beautiful landscapes and  moments, they evoke thoughts. Here is one such image ,shot on a foggy Bali morning .I didn't expect to have a human subject when I headed to shoot the Lake Beratan in the golden dawn. But to my surprise , there was this old man all alone  fishing in the middle of foggy cold lake. As the sunlight hit the water, it appeared all golden and it was as if the man was fishing in a lake of gold. Only if he had that fortunate. But ,what's pushing him to stay afloat even when life is trying to weigh him down?

Photo taken from the rooftop of a high-rise in downtown Dubai. Empty roads in Dubai are a rare sight, unless you are up early in the morning on a Sunday.

Concrete Curves

There is something soothing about symmetrical designs, and architectural compositions arranged symmetrically transcend cultures and time periods. They convey a sense of order to an otherwise chaotic world. Our amazing planet is full of symmetry. From plants to animals to just about everything else, it's everywhere. We humans merely try to imitate it. The symmetry in this hexagonal staircase was captured from the base of a lighthouse in Pondicherry, India.

Portrait of a City

Every year, thousands of flamingos fly into various parts of Mumbai  from all over the world. Talawe wetlands in Navi Mumbai is a lesser known pocket of wilderness, with high rise buildings on one side and mangroves on the other. 

These birds are white and grey when they arrive and get the reddish-pink tinge they are known for, as they feed on algae and invertebrates rich in the pigment beta-carotene, the same pigment which gives carrots their orange colour.

Talawe wetland was slated to become a golf course and residential complex, but was saved due to efforts of local residents who campaigned and won a battle in court to preserve the natural flamingo habitat. 

There are wildernesses in our cities, near our homes, waiting to be explored, and pleading for protection. But for every urban wilderness that receives protection, there are ten others that lose out to urban development projects. 

Urban Flamboyance

In the heart of the serene Kuzhuppilly backwaters in Kerala, a solitary island claims its existence. Nestled amidst nature’s bounty, it features a humble dwelling surrounded by a handful of trees. To me, this image symbolises solitude, strength, and independence, qualities I admire. 

As above, so below; the aerial perspective offers a top-down view, transforming the water surface into a mirror of the sky. Reflecting the vast expanse of the blue, dotted with cotton-candy clouds, it produces a surreal illusion that the island is gently floating in the heavens above.

This spectacle acts as a stimulant to one’s vision as well as imagination. 
I hope this inspires you to seek out your own island, your own little haven of solitude.

Island in the Sky

The Lone Cypress at Pebble Beach is one of the most photographed trees in the world and the most recognisable attraction on the 17-Mile Drive, a scenic road in California. Monterey Cypress trees can live for up to 400 years and scientists believe this tree to be over 250 years old!

On February 14, 2019, the Lone Cypress tree succumbed to heavy winds and severe rain, and one of its three limbs snapped off. This photo was taken on November 28, 2018, making it one of the final documented images of this legendary tree in all its beauty. I was quite fortunate to capture this with such a lovely sunset backdrop.

This is my first Creative Commons 0 License NFT. All rights will be released to the entire world after the NFT has been purchased.

Amsterdam is often referred to as the Venice of the North because of the many canals that connect the city, most of which are navigable by boat. What I love the most about the city are the canal houses that are slim, high and deep. Most of these houses were also built with a forward incline.

Historically, these houses in Amsterdam doubled as storage places since Amsterdam was a typical staple port. This was a place where merchants made money by trading all kinds of goods that entered into the city, usually by boat. These goods were hoisted using the hook on the beam sticking out at the top floor. A leaning facade meant it was less likely that the goods would hit the wall or break a window.

Because the houses are so narrow, staircases in Amsterdam houses are also famously narrow. This might seem difficult when you want to move house but in fact, up to this day, people use the hoist beam on top and the wide windows to move their stuff into a house.
