AFTER HOURS tells the story of a sensation or feeling that comes to a person after regular operating hours - such as peacefulness, heartbreak, serenity, or regret.

Some of the feelings we experience come and go abruptly and the moment is over in a heartbeat - blurry and faded. On the other hand, some feelings actually stay with us for a while, especially when we pay close attention and stay quiet for a bit - sharp, burned into our memory like a photograph.

On the ground, light has faded now and objects become hard to distinguish from the background or each other. They seem more like silhouettes. Your color-vision gives way to shades of tungsten as there is no longer enough light for your eyes to differ between detailed color schemes. The horizon is still visible while the sun sets 12 degrees below.

I bring layered meaning to my images through the process of double exposure. These images are created out of velvety darkness, glowing neon and starry sparks of light. My approach combines portraiture, street photography and light work to create highly evocative, cinematic images. I take an intuitive approach to convey feelings of nostalgia and melancholy with many of my works capturing outward glamour alongside private contemplation.

Hold The Line is a timeless tribute to Neo Noir Hollywood movies, a dreamy scene straight from my imagination, where past meets present and no one is as they seem.

Hold The Line

This image was shot in Vancouver, Canada while I was still travelling the world. I once read that nostalgia is a longing for a home that no longer exists or has never existed, well this is exactly how I felt at the time. Shooting helps me remind me what it feels to be lost and without a care, it helps me create memories I will have for the rest of my life and hopefully helps you feel the same way.

About ´Deja Vu’: It’s a double exposure overlaying a woman’s look with the city skyline of Paris at night. It creates a contrast between the intimacy of the subject’s gaze and the vastness of the cityscape. The use of red lighting adds a sense of intensity and cinematography to the photo. 
The image represents the intersection of individual experience and the collective consciousness of a city, I see it as a metaphor on the fragmentation of modern life, the same way our experiences and identities are shaped by the place we live in.
