In celebration of a wonderful show of support for my Pastel Poly Bird Series, I give you the Finch finale!  The American Goldfinch is a feeder favorite, who seems to channel the summer sun directly into their feathers.  

This Goldfinch was photographed May 11, 2020 at Shannon Beach in Winchester, MA.  The area around Shannon Beach became a favorite spot of mine last spring when many local birding hotspots were closed in the pandemic.

The Smoky Mountains are one of my very favorite places in the entire country. This image was created on a very foggy morning close to the highest point in the park. I waited as the rising sun burned off more and more of the fog and then suddenly a brilliant orange glow overtook us. The trees all around us became beautiful silhouettes against the wonderful backdrop of clouds and fog.
