THE STORY OF HOW I MET PICASSO - Was it all a dream?

Imagine a world where reality and dreams beautifully blur their boundaries. In such a world, Pablo Picasso casually strolled into Peet's Coffee, my creative sanctuary for many an undisturbed year. As the aromatic allure of coffee beans filled the air, our conversation took an unexpected turn. I found myself showing Picasso my art, the rhythm of my soul conveyed through brushstrokes.

The unimaginable happened. Picasso proposed a collaboration, an extraordinary fusion of past and present, tradition and innovation. Entranced by the audacious vibrancy of "Les Demoiselles d'Avignon", I wondered if I could re-imagine this epoch-defining masterpiece. Picasso's enthusiastic affirmation still echoes in my ears.

A dream, so profound and electrifying, it barely seemed ephemeral. I awoke with a vivid clarity, an irrepressible urge to bring this dream-inspired collaboration to life. Reflecting on the monumental task of reinventing a Picasso masterpiece, I pondered deeply on the direction, the kaleidoscope of colors, and the underlying themes that would form the fabric of my creation.

The honor of Picasso's proposition, albeit in the realm of dreams, remains a cherished memory. The final outcome of this spectral collaboration thrills me to my core, blending my artistic voice with Picasso's legendary genius in an unexpected symphony of art.  
THE ART:

"Les Demoiselles d'Avignon," a seminal work by Pablo Picasso, has long been revered as a cornerstone of modern art. Painted in 1907, it marked the genesis of Cubism, challenging traditional forms of representation and prompting a rethinking of the direction of visual art. The piece depicts five nude female prostitutes from a brothel on Carrer d'Avinyó, a street in Barcelona. Picasso's fragmented, geometric treatment of their forms, and his incorporation of Iberian and African art influences, shattered conventional norms, laying a new path for the art world.

Ali Sabet, a contemporary artist, has, in his own distinct way, similarly pushed against conventional boundaries. His work is known for its depth of emotion, poignant use of color, and an often dreamlike quality. The fusion of Eastern and Western influences in his work mirrors Picasso's own synthesis of different artistic traditions in "Les Demoiselles d'Avignon". This correlation can be seen as a thematic thread binding the two artists together, although they operate in different periods and contexts.

Ali's vision, emboldened by a dream where he collaborated with Picasso, has led him to reimagine "Les Demoiselles d'Avignon". This daring project illuminates a dialogue between two artists who, though separated by time, share a love for innovation, a disregard for the status quo, and a profound respect for the transformative power of art. The intertwining of Ali's own unique artistic language with Picasso's groundbreaking Cubist style brings a fresh perspective to the original masterpiece, creating a vibrant homage to Picasso's legacy and a testament to the ever-evolving landscape of art.

Ephemeral – A Photographic Study on Transient Memories

The "Ephemeral" collection invites viewers to reflect on the fleeting nature of moments and how they live on in our memories. Just as the moments we experience disappear from the physical world, they continue to exist within us, fragmented and shaped by our emotions, perceptions, and the passage of time.

Using techniques like multiple exposures, Intentional Camera Movement (ICM), and image overlays in post-production, "Ephemeral" visually represents the imperfections and fragmentation of memories. The photos don’t show sharp, clear scenes but rather a blend of colors, shapes, and textures that symbolize how our memories overlap and shift as days, months, and years go by. Over time, the specific details fade away, leaving behind blurred impressions, subjective interpretations, and even new layers of meaning.

Each viewer is encouraged to interpret these images uniquely, just as each person carries a different perception of the same moment in time. When observing the photographs, the memories they evoke vary from person to person, as do the feelings and interpretations that emerge in the process.

"Ephemeral" is, above all, a tribute to impermanence – a celebration of how we carry these fragments of life within us, constantly transforming them.

This photo was taken in Galia, a rural location in the countryside of Brazil with extensive plantations. In this exact location there was a coffee plantation and several areas being prepared for new plantations, and with very little original nature preserved. This always makes us ask: Is this really the way? Should that be our focus? It is not just urbanization that destroys nature - depending on how it is used, nature can destroy nature.

The phrase on the wall reads, "Son of a bitch, let me dream".

We can't talk about the rest of the world, but here in Brazil this phrase reflects our existence. It is hard to dream here, when the majority of the population struggles daily to put at least one meal a day on their children's plate. It is hard to dream when you barely survive.

And everything that the world has gone through in the last few years has only made this reality worse.

But despite all the difficulties, we must fight for our right to dream. We must seek this dream, and dream it freely. And when we succeed in dreaming, we must fight even harder for that dream to come true.

We must face the world, and shout with all our might at those who hinder us: Son of a bitch, let me dream!

Part of the proceeds from the sale of this photo will be donated to Brazilian institutions that help low-income people realize their dreams.

Essentials - Photography

The 'All-Seeing Eye' (or Eye of Providence) was born as a figure representing divine providence, according to which the eye of God watches over humanity.  
 
The eye, according to Freemasonry, is used as a reminder that the thoughts and actions of humanity are always observed by God. It is also commonly used as a symbol of the Illuminati in modern times.

For us,this symbol embodies, in this series of images, the figure of the control exercised today by the state over its citizens, who no longer have freedom. This control is exercised with the excuse of care, with the excuse that they are thus protecting ordinary citizens, when they are depriving them of their individual freedoms. 

This work is part of the 'Symbiosi's collection, by artists Shirley Reinis and Oliver Reinis (Reiniscouple), and was launched in 2023.

All-seeing eye I | Symbiosis series

J. C. R. Licklider, in a text published in 1960, stated:

"Man-computer symbiosis is an expected development in cooperative interaction between men and electronic computers. It will involve very close coupling between the human and the electronic members of the partnership. The main aims are 1) to let computers facilitate formulative thinking as they now facilitate the solution of formulated problems, and 2) to enable men and computers to cooperate in making decisions and controlling complex situations without inflexible dependence on predetermined programs. In the anticipated symbiotic partnership, men will set the goals, formulate the hypotheses, determine the criteria, and perform the evaluations. Computing machines will do the routinizable work that must be done to prepare the way for insights and decisions in technical and scientific thinking. Preliminary analyses indicate that the symbiotic partnership will perform intellectual operations much more effectively than man alone can perform them."

Creativity and fun go hand in hand. Our most inspiring and creative moments are when we're having fun, talking - and the ideas just come.

This photo was created like that. The photo of the helicopter was taken a few days before the launch of this work, at an event in our city. The photo of the model is part of a series of nude shoots we did between 2021 and 2022.

Joking about the photo of the helicopter, I came up with the idea of it being aimed at a target, like a dart... the rest flowed naturally.

But the process of getting the final image involved many hours of work, a bit of AI and a lot of photoshop to bring the two images together.

'Blue' was created through a process called ICM - Intentional Camera Movement, which involves photographing at low speeds with intentional and natural movements with the camera, creating a motion blur in the final image. The choice of colors aims to create a clean cyberpunk atmosphere.

It is our first work resulting from a new line of artistic research, in the area of abstract photography, applied to one of our main lines of photography, street photography.
