The heart of the NYS capital is the Empire State Plaza. On a brisk day in April 2022 I headed to the Empire State Plaza for some fun shooting. The plaza is home to so many events that happen in Albany. Capped at the end is the iconic NYS Museum with it's interesting architecture.

Alpha Girls begin their journey in life born as half-human and half-Alpha, specifically, being tied to the bloodline of an original Alpha. Growing up unaware of her bloodline, each girl struggles with her own emotional barrier; trauma, depression, anxiety, etc.

Perched in waiting, hanging with the flock. NYC pigeons are a special breed. What worried me the most were the people that had no problem sitting and hanging out under them like targets primed for the drop.

A beautiful Spring day, we visited the farmer's market in Schenectady, NY to check out the scene and pick up a few things. I love going to the markets since there are so many great local vendors to choose from and some things we can only find there.

Everyone out was in great spirits, getting a beautiful day out to enjoy. I saw this couple approaching and couldn't help but feel the warmth of their energy. I hoped to capture the love surrounding them as it is a warm reminder of the happiness we feel with our own loved ones.

This piece is a special airdrop for Valentine's Day 2023.

Since its installation in 2019, replacing the previous "Watchtower" sign, this is a very much "Welcome" addition to the Brooklyn skyline.

At 80 ft long and 15 ft tall it provides a friendly vibe when peeking across the water.

Welcome

Coming through towards the Manhattan Bridge on May 10, 2022 it was approaching 5pm - time for many to close up at work and get on with their personal lives. It's in these moments you see some very interesting scenes. I caught this man just as he got out for that fresh "off the clock" smoke, the feeling of relief of a long day was soon to hit. We can all relate to that joy of clocking out.

One of the features of Times Square are the great street performers. It was a cool day in March on my initial outing to start my Walking NYC collection and I ended up catching a performance by a dance/acrobatic group just as they started. The energy was incredible and the crowd was loving it. This shot was taken in March 2022 so the city was still fairly quiet in the after-effects of COVID shutdowns prior.

This edition is to show my gratitude to the lovers of street photography. I hope you will join me on my journey.

I love coming to crosswalks, there's usually something that catches my eye. This was no exception. A humorous combination of one flow of movement that didn't quite make sense to me. Almost as if she couldn't cross the street since the sign was telling her it was a one-way road.

A view of One World Trade Center in November 2022, it was peeking through the buildings with the light just right to create a nice "shine" that I had to stop to admire. The sky has been modified to add a bit of color to allow One WTC to stand out a bit more.

You see cyclists all over NYC, but you don't normally see this many at once. It was a great day for riding, but Tour de France has nothing on NYC traffic challenges.

Being from Upstate NY I feel fortunate to be close to one of the greatest cities the world has. Grew up going to Flushing often to visit family and many times wished I could live in the sea of chaotic harmony that is NYC. It's a place that is an escape for me that fills many desires - fun, meeting friends, the ability to be lost in the crowds, people watching, relaxing in the sounds of the streets. I love this city that never sleeps.

Every now and then you encounter someone that's got a great mood and sense of humor. Most of the time as a street photographer you are met with glares and stares. Hanging out in Times Square, I was getting ready for just a normal candid capture when I realized I caught a moment of silliness that brightened my day. Life needs more of this energy. In NYC there is great energy out on the streets if you give it a chance to shine.

Walking NYC

I was taking a walk through Times Square with my family on a trip, it was the first time I had been in the area to spend the night in a long while. As we walked back to our hotel I noticed a peculiar sight - this guy had no shoes on, but instead was choosing to carry them. Many questions ran through my mind. I suppose he just wanted to feel the hard pavement beneath his feet. I could only think about the fact that this was a risky move as you never know what could be on the ground. Nevertheless it made for an interesting sight that I'll never know the "why".

NYC Pride has been an event that has pulled at me to go for years, finally fulfilled this calling in 2023. An incredible day filled with such high energy, inclusiveness, diversity, and absolutely amazing scenes - I am so glad to have attended and will plan to for years to come. There was something special about this year - the LGBT community has come under a lot of fire from opponents in a charged political climate. It felt important to be a part of the event as an ally to the community, providing support to people that simply do not feel safe in many areas of the world. 

Around 2 million attended this year’s NYC Pride - an astounding number which brought incredible energy to the celebration of taking pride in who we are as individuals and who we are as a community. The freedom to express ourselves in whichever way we deem appropriate was amazing to be a part of. It is an event that I will never forget and one that I hoped to document with as much energy as I received from it. The people are what make Pride celebrations what they are, without people there is no Pride - there is no community. I was standing against the barricade watching the parade go by and I couldn’t help but to be moved by the energy of everyone. Many showed an amazing display of confidence and belonging that I could only dream of.

Collectors of this edition will be placed into a raffle for a 1/1 shot during 2023 NYC Pride.

The frame within the frame highlights a rugged, textured concrete opening as a stark, contrasting border to the vibrant tulips showcased within, illuminating their bright yellows and oranges. I was immediately grabbed by this sight as I waited for my family to return, a beautiful juxtaposition of the cold feeling of the concrete against the warmth of the tulip garden behind. 

Floral Outlook

It's late April, the weather is turning from the blustery Northeast winter to the warm comfort that spring brings with it. This lone flower blooms in the Empire State Plaza as a sign of growth and changing seasons.

Captured from the lofty perspective of Skylon Tower. The centerpiece, a warmly illuminated steakhouse, hums with activity, drawing the gaze with its inviting glow. Yet, just above, the hotel windows reveal mini vignettes — each pane a different tale. These windows offer a mosaic of personal narratives, adding layers of intrigue to the vibrant tableau.
