Echo, No Resonance is a joint creation, an investigation of live performance, between generative artist Andreas Rau and the artistic collective HERE & NOW.

Moments from the live cinematic experience, chosen by an algorithm, will become visual artworks minted on the Ethereum blockchain for each Mint Pass holder. This randomised process elevates both ordinary and extraordinary moments, creating unique echoes of a film that can only be seen once, and never again.

A generative performance between improvisation and composition, between precise instructions and free interpretation, between synthetic and natural sounds, between human and machine. A time-based piece where the computer becomes composer, conductor and performer all at once, generating a constant stream of sound and visuals alongside musical scores to be played by human musicians. A series of unique NFTs: stills derived from the performance, deconstructed versions of the musical scores, reminiscent of the ephemeral.

Duet (Preview) is part of Andreas Rau’s ongoing exploration of human-machine collaboration. It is the first in a series of audiovisual generative performances where human musicians meet computer-generated sounds and visuals. Starting in 2024, this body of work will be brought to life together with different musicians for audiences in locations around the world. Accompanying NFT series will immortalize the performances on the blockchain.

A first exclusive preview of Duet was presented by KEF and Parameta in Hong Kong on November 28th and 29th, 2023 with the artist himself as the performing musician. This series presents stills from the parameter space used for the preview performances.

*Symphony for n Metronomes* is a code-based decentralized performance created by Andreas Rau, conceived as a generative system where code, blockchain, interface, and synchronized time articulate an evolving field of presence.

Inspired by the temporal explorations of Ligeti’s Poème Symphonique (1962) and Ichiyanagi’s Music for Electric Metronome (1960), the project repositions the concept of the metronome as an active agent within a distributed generative architecture.

The generative structure of the work positions the act of minting as an active and necessary gesture for the ongoing evolution of the digital artwork. \
Each minted iteration introduces a new metronome into the system, expanding its rhythmic and visual field in real time. \
Collectors engage directly with the evolving architecture of the work. Their action contributes permanently to the system’s temporal structure, sustaining the continuous articulation of the performance. \
*Symphony for n Metronomes* operates as a living system. It fully unfolds when multiple iterations are presented in spatial configurations that extend the digital field into a shared experience.

The work’s architecture extends into a parallel live performance presented on the dedicated project site [met.andreasrau.eu](https://met.andreasrau.eu/), where every mint is reflected in real time. \
Collectors’ contributions are made visible within the evolving system through a structured topology of participation. \
Three levels, Metronome, Ensemble, and Orchestra, articulate the presence of each collector within the performance. They shape a dynamic public field that unfolds alongside the minted editions. \
This live interface functions as an integral layer of Symphony for n Metronomes, continuously synchronizing on-chain actions with the project’s temporal and spatial articulation.

We are physical beings. We live in a physical world. We are connected. Over space and time. Our bodies are one with the universe. We are one. Physically entangled, spiritually connected.

In «Inventory Numbers», silhouettes of human beings from the collection of the Finnish National Museum are juxtaposed with silhouettes of human beings from the artist’s own photographic archive. Their overlapping bodies form a unity over time and space, their vibrations speak of the quantum processes that underlie physical and spiritual entanglement. The boundaries of body, time and space are blurred and a new, shared inventory is created.

Occasionally, the group rearranges their positions, reordering the relations between the portrayed individuals. Robotic voices read inventory numbers from the collection archive in different languages, as if the beings could only be addressed this way. The music, influenced by the collection data, further embodies the ever-changing nature of the piece.
