It is very rare to decide on the name of the photograph while taking it. 
He is just one of the people who collects garbage that is accumulated from the sea - with the current on the shore of the estuary(Golden Horn) all day before the snow storm. And by doing this virtuous task, he is the God of the Sea for me.

Gloria has been a highway motel manager for 20 years. All around her is roads and desert. Once a week an electrician comes to her to keep an eye on the condition of the motel. Nothing has happened in her life for the past 20 years, every day she sees new people, tired drivers, drunken students, sleepy businessmen. She has to have the character of steel to deal with them on her own. One day her life changed. A famous video blogger was released at her hotel. Gloria got caught up in his YouTube video. At that moment a huge number of people on the Internet began to admire Gloria's unusual appearance, such a rough and yet very graceful woman almost 2 meters tall. Then she was noticed by the chief editor of a fashion magazine. Ten years later, Gloria is living on the coast and writing a book - "Is there life after the motel?"

Unrelatable

My search for some peace of mind is a long one. An ongoing one. Maybe it never ends, and the prize of resting my thoughts was just a carrot on a stick to get through life. Some say it gets easier... Others say, "enjoy the little you have, because peace will get ultimately more rare", so there's really no telling if I'll ever reach internal peace. I imagine a day where I can go outside and sit on the grass and my thoughts won't be plagued by future nor past. So I'll continue to openly search for it. In my journey, whether you form part of it or stare as an onlooker, just let me be in my struggle for answers that will devoid my questions.

This piece has been heavily influenced by one of my favourite poems, The Crunch by Charles Bukowski:

"...there is a loneliness in this world so great
that you can see it in the slow movement of
the hands of a clock."

I wanted to create a composition that can accurately portray that isolation and feeling of dissociation. In the age of information and mass-connection, loneliness has become an ironic pandemic. Even though this figure is sitting in something that looks like a padded cell to portray that solitary distance, I decided to not include a shadow on the floor. This makes it look like the figure is floating in space, giving it an even more distant feeling. The idea for the patterned tiles are to create a stimulating effect that connects to the idea of us being stimulated all the time as well. 
All in all, though it took ages to complete, it's one of my proudest pieces.

A simple man living in a complicated world. And through Heideggerian "thrownness" (a concept I've had a love-hate fascination with for the longest time!), I ended up in this age, in South Africa as the person I am. I have simple pleasures: I like painting, a cup of coffee, my cat and my bonsai. And the world we live in has all these constant threats.
I wanted to draw a distinction between these two worlds. The calm, simple life inside and the chaotic world outside. The title, 'BedTime', has an ominous undertone. I picture this a scene where a nuke has dropped, and me unknowingly on my way to bed and carrying my cats with me to come snuggle under the blanket. Just a normal routine ending in a completely different way, because the outside world has finally peered itself through the walls of my home.

Worth-It is a piece about progress, meaning and growth.
It's my take on the myth of Sisyphus. Every artist climbs the ladder. The ladder may mean artistic growth or even professional growth. Very few actually stay at the top. Some get too comfortable or blinded by the view and fall, some jump off willingly. 
However, it is in the climb of the ladder that meaning is created, resilience built and strength found. What matters is standing up, dusting yourself off, and climbing again.
