I love this kind of atmosphere almost as much as the Polish word for fog, "Mgła". The dense atmosphere of early morning fog is easily my favorite to work in, and I love the eerie cinematic tone that every street seems to exude and how the city seems to dissolve into the murkiness.

In much of my work, I find myself in a deep dive into shadows and how they tell their own mysterious story. I also allude to how these shadows hold a deeper meaning, often implying how I identify with living abroad and the conflicts that come from change.

I had not really experienced this color before, and the only thing I could associate it to was of a Pink Flamingo. A quick, summer weekend in Bologna for a wedding and I had two hours to wander the center of Bologna before I needed to change gears and get my suit on. On the hunt for an espresso and pizza in the city center, the reflections in this Jewelry store window caught my eye and as I moved closer, the Jeweler himself appeared at just the right moment and I took my shot. A second later he was gone and so was I, pleased with my treasure from Bologna.

Tram Tracks are a place I would often wait for people to cross or on a daring day, a tram approaching in the distance. Here, in a slightly foggy day, I found the perfect person at just the right moment with a tram not far behind him. Two for one if you will!

In my Exposed In The Light collection, I speak of learning to cope with my surroundings and to come to terms with the feelings of isolation and anxiety I experienced after moving from the US. My camera became a way for me to analyze my surroundings and connect in a creative way. Each frame in the collection is a moment that I learned from but also a projection of myself and these feelings.

I saw the tram approaching and knew that I wanted to grab this shot from the middle of the street, but wouldn't have time to set it up properly because the traffic light was already changing. I quickly raced to the middle, made an adjustment on the FM2, dropped to the tracks, leveled it and snapped. I was fairly certain that this was going to be too dark and possibly blurry, but was quite delighted that it was not and got the shot without being run over.

Seattle is my hometown, it's where I was born and raised, my family is there and so are my ghosts. On my last trip, winter 2019, I brought my Nikon FM2 and wandered the streets, reconnecting with the city and my past through film. In 2018, I started to work with film so when I arrived in Seattle, working with film was fairly new to me, and it was the first time I documented the city in this way. 
Part of my process is a need to be alone, observe and feel the energy from my surroundings. This is especially true when I return home after such long absences away and the ghosts from my past feel alive again as memories I had forgotten surface and linger. With film, I noticed my process slowed further, and I discovered a new appreciation and acceptance for the city I once called home.

During a conversation with my father, he reminisced about his youth and the time he had to take care of the chickens on his family farm. He expressed dislike for the roosters due to their aggressive behavior.

In this phenomenon, people feel a sense of unease or even revulsion in response to humanoid robots that are highly realistic.

Newly found film negatives from 1952-57 by Nebraska's Thomas Hanover reveal eerie scenes of mysterious beings. Experts are puzzled by the untouched authenticity of these images. Hanover, a secluded handyman near Walhalla, took up photography after his wife's passing and supposedly built his own camera, possibly linked to the captured apparitions. Yet, the fate of this remarkable camera and Hanover's whereabouts after 1957 remains a mystery, as he vanished without a trace.

Tram Tracks are a place I would often wait for people to cross or on a daring day, a tram approaching in the distance. Here, on a slightly foggy day, I found the perfect person at just the right moment with a tram not far behind him. Two for one if you will!

Learning to cope with my surroundings and to come to terms with the feelings of isolation and anxiety I experienced after moving from the US, my camera became a way for me to analyze my surroundings and connect in a creative way. Each frame during this crucial time of adjustment was a moment that I learned from but also a projection of myself and these feelings.
