Out For Delivery

Following the rail down, there was only void. And then in every direction. There was no distance between anything. Just the cold of the air and stillness of trees in my immediate surroundings. Life stood still this morning, in this moment. There could be nothing after this, but we won't know unless we take the stairs down.

To Nowhere

I drive the same way to work every morning, and part of the year that drive is cold and very dark. I get the privilege as I get closer in my commute, to see Mt. Rainier and the sunrise that blooms behind the trees, but only for a moment. That view is quickly blocked by more trees. It is a mundane drive to work at best, other than the glimpse of color and light before entering the warehouse for the next eight hours. I look forward to seeing the mountain every morning, at least when the clouds aren't covering. It is my half-awake moment of peace, and alignment before I start the day.

Are You A Toad Too?

Wandering around at twilight, in a wash outside of a neighborhood in Phoenix, Arizona. 

       The sun was setting, and a glowing red hue blanketed the hills as I took her hand and told her not to walk next to any holes. I said I wasn't sure if there would be rattlesnakes. She's never been here before. We walked together, tripped over rocks and examined strange plants. Ran to the different cacti that we found towering over the both of us. The sky was endless and cars in the distance silhouetted, and soon were the hills, and soon each other. I suppose we found our way out just in time, as the ground was harder to see and the air increasingly felt anxious. We were back between clay houses and asphalt, a world within a world. We were little ghosts dancing around the night in the desert, just her and I, and the prickly giants that keep the land.

She looked through the glass and I felt it pull through me. 
We were two black holes swallowing one another;  
Over and over. 
Quiet chaos.  
A conversation through mirrors. I had to be dreaming, but I couldn't tell if it was her dream or mine... 
I felt my finger floating around the shutter, and noticed a slight green glow from the cup on the table. My eyes focused slightly and I pressed down, then I took another drink.

A quiet day preparing for the holidays, I was floating around the workspace she carved out in the corner of her apartment bedroom. As she was focusing on sewing together the little pieces of fabric, I was falling in love while watching her work. This is a small moment in time that for me, threads together a much bigger picture of our lives; an extraordinary love in a seemingly ordinary life.

 some things should remain a mystery, or a kept secret that is lost and forgotten over time. though i can’t help but ask what truths are hidden behind the curtains? i am just a passerby, and what cannot be seen is left to the void... and i keep on walking.

what you don't see

Whispers fill the room, temperatures drop, and lights burn out as she is conjured from nothingness and cold. It would be impossible to look. Thunder roars and rain beats into the asphalt outside. The whispers turn to wails and the divine speaks. Everything goes still, as the words tear through the fabric and enter infinity.  A faint "goodbye" echoes. The lights flicker back on, and the world returns to normal. You shouldn't have drank all that absinthe...

The power lines became a stringed instrument, and played a ballad to me while I danced in the twilight through desert’s dirt. The wind was singing songs of warmth and the sky composing colors. This place has a heartbeat that coalesces with mine, and the rhythm it creates in my mind.
