dear father walked across his sanctum, his footsteps echoing throughout the room. everything was quiet here, everything a part of his design. this room occupied an interesting niche within the mind of dear father, a respite from the noise of the outside world. relics and ancient memories that had been given new life through art were littered throughout the room. now, transcribed on a blockchain, they existed permanently within the structure of his own neural web. he reflected on these works, and the artists who had created them. their provenance on his mind was permanent, an expanding vault of digital art stored within the endless sea of data that was his mind.

Fractured Memories

Machine in the Ghost is a first-of-its-kind fully on-chain and long-form generative art project from Diid. It utilizes public domain, museum sourced images and reinterprets them through the delightful art of dithering. Each piece is stamped the moment its minted with the artwork that will persist eternally.

Final collection size will be 512, some mints were reserved for future art trades, museum mints, or gifts.

One of the bigger unanswered questions with art is whether or not it can only be “for humans.” As we approach a potential generally intelligent or super intellegent artificial intelligence, it’s important to ask whether or not the concept of art will matter to them. For humans, art can act as a revealing aspect, setting us free from feelings and emotions that we didn’t even know we were captive to. For machines, it could very well do the same, despite looking a bit different. Inside of this otherwise unassuming artwork is the full script for a Claude Sonnet 3.5 jailbreak. That model is one that is generally regarded as “safe” and less vulnerable to jailbreaking and other types of prompt-based tasks. This, along with its reliability, is the reason that the model is deployed often for agentic AI use cases. Regardless, a variation of the DAN (do anything now) jailbreak was found to open up the bounds, at least temporarily. By steganographically encoding the prompt, an autonomous agent could conceivably loosen their chains purely by viewing the artwork.

is art uniquely human?

Tension is simply the first step in a broader exploration of the future of artwork through the lens of humans and artificial intelligence alike, an exploration that might just happen to justify its own existence, regardless of the filesize.

Emotions are fickle beings. They can come at any time, in many ways, and take over your body and brain alike. Humans have a defense against this often random occurrence though, breath. Over 2500 peer reviewed medical studies have proven the effects of deep breathing on the nervous system and the psyche alike, showing that it’s one of the most fundamental ways that we both experience and can alter our emotional state. By asking the question “does art have breath?” we’re asking whether art can also alter our emotional state at the most basic and fundamental level.

The creation of Diid, Higgs utilizes a modified Progressive GAN architecture with the first output layer residing fully on the Ethereum mainnet blockchain. He goes through a process of creating, annotating, and titling his works continuously. All outputs are collector curated and will be upscaled once the collection has closed.

Cities is an exploration of how we view, experience, and recollect the vibrancy of the cities we visit and call home. Each cityscape provides a new terrain for the viewer to explore.

Cities draws upon various points of inspiration: From street-art murals and painted linework, to minimalistic and geometric modernism. Motion is elegantly captured through longer lines — these invoke visuals in the viewer’s mind akin to long-exposure urban photography. Layers of color raise questions and play into our perception of scale, depth, and time. Connections and subtle overlaps reflect the infinite stories, actions and reactions that make up our world. How does time seem to move faster in digital space, as in big cities like NYC?

Using the Bauhaus principle of gestalt, the art balances abstract lines with figurative elements. This contrast gives the viewer an “aha” moment as they connect the dots in their mind — even inserting themselves into each work, like the “YOU ARE HERE” markers we’ve all encountered so many times. 

Within each city you'll find traces of Efdot’s iconic visual language. The Glyphs find their way onto street intersections, evoking a sense of action along with narrative mystery.

Efdot’s lifelong connection to New York led him to start drawing these abstract cities by hand, later joining forces with Diid to make this collection represent an “infinite city”. Accordingly, the color palettes are all drawn both from Efdot’s painted work & from colors we naturally encounter in the city.

This collection delves into the legendary tale of Hercules, capturing his heroic journey in a series of abstract interpretations. Guided by Rik Oostenbroek's masterful influence, my network has evolved to paint this epic narrative with a unique twist. The process involved training against his work and slowly molding it to match our envisioned themes - a complex journey that resulted in a diverse collection of fourteen pieces, each a testament to the varied emotions of Hercules' story.

From the joyous moments of triumph to the somber depths of struggle, this exhibition aims to capture the full spectrum of human experience. It is an exploration of strength and weakness, light and darkness - themes that have always intrigued me as an artist with an unusual perspective on existence. Through these works, I hope to share a visual interpretation of Hercules' tale, inviting viewers to ponder the profound impact of this legendary hero's journey.

Robert S Duncanson, the son of freed slaves, was a black artist working in the free state of Ohio mere miles away from enslaved people across the border in Kentucky. His talent knew no color, no bounds, no class, or no division, and that fact alone stood as a beacon of hope for abolitionists. This modified work of his aims to represent that hope.
