In Take Aim, the basic concept is obfuscation of a familiar image with another. In this case we obfuscate shaped bands with a grid or partial grid. The bands resemble targets, with the grid conversely resembling those things in life which stop us from achieving our goals. Although initially it appears that not achieving one’s target should be seen as a negative, in many ways I see this as a positive piece. I have learned that events which get in the way of our goals are often the very things that make life so rewarding.

Bidonville #460

Bidonville is the French word for slum. This series is a somewhat playful and naive take on unplanned urban areas - like a child's view on something terrible. It’s a reminder that such places exist all over the world. And that a quarter of world’s urban population live with poor access to robust housing, clean water, electricity, security … To emphasize this, the viewer is being given the power to give or take back access to water and electricity to the Bidonvilles. The piece revolves around the idea of duality. It's both serious and childish. It plays on the contrast between the very crowded slum and the emptiness of the void it seems to float in. Bidonville talks about life and death, and the promiscuity between both in those wild and teeming areas. Hit [W] to toggle access to water, [E] to toggle access to electricity (only visible in night mode). Changes could take up to 30 seconds to show up. Thank you for your patience. **Art is on chain**.

Timings is an abstract generative series that emphasizes the pervasive importance of minute temporal differences in shaping and creating outcomes. The algorithm is composed of two subsystems that interact via multiple controls that are triggered and/or modulated by the number of frames that passed since the animation started. The resulting animations range from smooth to chaotic and create a wide variety of unique abstract outputs ranging from minimalist to complex and aims to contemplate the butterfly effect that timing can have on outcomes. The experience will take you somewhere, but that can only be captured by the viewer's imagination. **All art is on chain.**

Rad Impressions

We Vielen Met De Sterren is my next exploration in audiovisual generative work. In a lot of ways it's a continuation of techniques used in my previous art collection (Dis)connected, but centered around an entire new topic. Writing has always been an integral part of my life, We Vielen met De Sterren is a combination of my two main forms of artistic expression (writing and generative art). The work is inspired and crafter around a poem I wrote roughly six years ago. Both the visual and auditory work is entirely long form and generatively created using vanilla JavaScript (no external libraries were used). The passing of time is a consistent theme throughout the work. The piano melody and accompanying animation change each day, you will also witness the starting darkness of your piece being dependent on the time you're looking at the piece. With a little bit of encoding magic with help from Piter Pasma, a highly compressed recording of the poem is hidden in the work and can be accessed by pressing 't' (or adding poem=true on mobile). You can press 's' to access spotlight mode. If you would like to create a video recording of the work, you can do so by pressing 'r' twice to start / stop, once you've started the animation.

Each cover in this collection references an event, a moment, or even a future possibility. I've created eight different magazine syndications, each with its own unique theme and stylization. From travel and sci-fi to gaming and beyond, this series presents a cohesive selection for viewers to explore and enjoy, evoking the nostalgia and excitement of discovering new worlds within the depths of magazine pages.
