30 SECONDS IN ITALY

This project was created to document, in 30 images, experiences I had during my time in Italy; to reflect the people, places, and cultures I found there. 

Taking one photo a day on black and white film for the first 30 days of this year was challenging. A process that tested not only my skills in photography, but also my resilience and dedication to this body of work. 

This project is also my attempt at diving into my heritage. These are the 30 SECONDS that I felt truly spoke for the culture of Italy and it's people, as I experienced them through my own lens.

This is a story from long ago, when the great mammoths still roamed our lands. It's the story of my two brothers and me. When the three of us were young, we were taught that the world is full of magic. The source of this magic is the ever-changing lights that dance across the sky. The shaman woman of our village told us that these lights are the spirits of our ancestors, and that they had the power to make changes in our world. Small things become big. Winter turns to spring. Cracks In The Ice I Tried To Disguise

"Where One Becomes Many" is a photographic exploration of the multifaceted nature of identity set against the backdrop of surreal landscapes. 

Through a series of captivating images, the project delves into the concept of multiplicity, where a single entity is fragmented and replicated, reflecting the ever-evolving self. Each image represents a facet of a personality, a fragment of a whole. By presenting these fragmented versions in dialogue with one another, the project invites viewers to contemplate the dynamic interplay within their own identities.

We lose parts of ourselves through our experiences and choices. Yet through self-reflection and exploration, we can reintegrate those lost aspects, forming a more complete picture of who we are.

"Where One Becomes Many" is not only about the visuals, but also the emotional journey of self-discovery. By challenging the singularity of identity within these dream-like landscapes, the project allows viewers to embrace the beauty and complexity of a multifaceted and evolving individuality.
