Series of video arts with the title of TEHRAN captured by mobile with focusing on the movements of the ordinary people in the streets and public transportations during rush hours. This series can be assumed as socio-historical documents of Tehran and the majority of its society in a special era.

Invisible Chains

As a Middle Eastern woman who was born at the wartime, and currently lives in another protest for her fundamental basic rights, she could never get rid of the feeling of fear, insecurity and suspension.
The scenes of blood, bludgeon, slaughters and tortures, the sound of shooting and annoying noises are always turning in her head.
She prays, she fights, she dances, and still tries hard to tear up the boundaries.

Wartime #2

Sometimes you behave yourself as garbage for self-punishment of the guilt that you may have never done. Sometimes you wrap up your soul and stay away from the crowds. Sometimes you tear up the boundaries and breath. Look at the reflection of your true self that is always floating between instincts and morality. So you can never be more than an observer of this endless play between “Id, Ego & Superego”. 

*According to psychoanalytic theory of Sigmund Freud, there are three components for the mental life:
1. Id: uncoordinated primary instinctual desires that are present from birth.
2. Superego: critical and moral standards that drive from parents and society.
3. Ego:  organized, realistic part of the psyche that mediates between the instinctual desires of the id and the critical super-ego. 
 
*Large black garbage bags first appeared in my works from the early days of my artistic journey in the series of painting-installations: “Unforgiven 1, 2 & 3” (2012-2014). This worthless but meaningful material has become valuable for me because of several relocations that I had experienced from my childhood. For me, garbage bag is the symbol of suspension and outflow of my inner tension and emancipation of the past. In this video-performance, garbage bag has come to surface again to show my paradoxical feeling of psychoanalytic self-punishment and self-curing.

In scientific point of view, chaos is the formless matter supposed to have existed before the creation of the universe. It reminds us of the moment of the Big Bang. But in the present era of digital generation everything is pixelated, it seems pixels play the role of the cells of being, even chaos has a deep inner challenge with the pixels. And we are all twisting and turning in this immersive disorder, some of us are aligned with the space-time diagram and some of us are roaming to find the correct direction.

Crushed under the feet of society, she shaves her hair as an individual demonstration and suffering act of cutting from everything that she loves as a woman. Her hands are exhausted and her soul is suspended and fluctuated between the dark reality and her imaginary world. No more poems left, but to play the Rubik of life in a different way...

When the two-dimensional media of art becomes helpless to speak, the body aids the artist to challenge the concepts. The body which is the border between the inner human being and the outside world, and breaking its boundaries is breaking the boundaries of life.

During the revolution in Iran, many young people, especially beautiful girls, lost their eyes. This piece continues the REVOLUTION collection and was created in November 2023 to amplify the voices of these resilient girls whom I refer to as the Eyes-Less Goddesses—symbols of enduring bravery and glory.

Bio: Visheh is a multidisciplinary artist and researcher. AI is a new assistant for her to express her feelings and challenges. As a Middle Eastern woman born during wartime, she is interested in art therapy.
