Winamp V 6.9 pulls straight from my early Internet memories. A digital animation built on nostalgia, vibe-coded in p5.js. With ASCII type, some dithering, and crushed resolution. I wasn’t trying to make it clean. I wanted it to feel like it came out of a hard drive from 2003, messy and alive. The times I’d download Winamp skins off sketchy forums, crash my parents’ computer with the wrong LimeWire or Napster file, and swear it wasn’t me. That era of experimenting, learning, taking apart and putting together - it wasn’t just influence, it’s what led me here today.

Let it burn. 

Like the vast majority of my work from 2018 to whenever I decide to stop, this piece was Banned For the Internet. The deeper story, which I haven’t fully explained until now, came down to content filtering and algorithmic censorship.

Back then, social media AI was pretty fucking dumb. Nipple detection could be tricked. You could alter the body just enough, reframe the context, and suddenly the algorithm saw something else. In this case, it thought it was just a bulbous game controller. It lived online for years before the system finally caught on and took it down.

I’ve always had a deep frustration with censorship. Especially the kind that hides behind vague terms like “community guidelines.” These rules aren’t made by people you can talk to. They’re enforced by systems and backed by corporations. And it’s only gotten worse. Now big tech companies get to decide what kind of art you’re allowed to make before you even make it. What happens when the program you’re working in starts limiting you creatively and flagging every edit you make? 

Real art isn’t supposed to be safe. It’s supposed to provoke, to make you think, to make you uncomfortable. 

Some people will see this and say it’s just shock art. And maybe they’re right. It’s meant to stop you mid-scroll, make you do a double take, hit that one-second dopamine rush. But underneath that, the goal was always to find creative ways around a system that’s constantly trying to limit what you’re allowed to express. 

That’s the game. And for a while, I was winning.

Slimesunday has been involved in various music projects including J.
