Antarctica is full of incredible beauty and painted in different shades of whites and blues. Huge icebergs, fjords, mountains, ice caps and of course untouched wild nature with hundreds of penguins awaiting you on shore. You have to cross “Drake’s Passage”, one of the roughest seas on Earth, if you want to get there. But when you see the first icebergs and you realize that you have arrived, all your struggles are forgotten. Antarctica is like a different world, unlike anything you have ever seen before.

Cormorant fishing on Li river, China, as it used to be centuries ago. It was an absolute pleasure to shoot with Mr. Huang Gao Hui, one of the famous fishermen in Xingping. I was able to document a tradition that is unfortunately dying out, like many others, due to the increase of tourism in our ever developing world.

One of the strongest Aurora that I‘ve ever seen. I captured this photo on the Lofoten in Northern Norway. The sky was so bright and full of different colors - I’ll never forget this magic moment.

Visiting and photographing this castle in Southern Germany has been on my bucket list for many years. I finally made it and the conditions couldn’t have been better.

I’ve seen various sunsets in my time but this one was special. It had been raining for days previously, but on this evening the sun came out for just a few seconds during the sunset and poured a bright light through the fog, colouring everything orange. Just like a fairy tale. I’m still mesmerised.

Do you know those moments, when you can’t stop smiling for hours? This was definitely one of those.

Antarctica was on my bucket list for so many years and in January 2022 I finally had the chance to make this trip to the end of the world. It took me four days of traveling until I arrived in this surreal world. In this collection I share 20 of my best shots with you, shot on a Sony Alpha 1 and a 100-400mm telephoto lens. Every piece is unique and one of a kind. I was lucky to be given special permission to fly my drone there for some extraordinary and rarely seen shots from above.

Antarctica - The Last Continent by Dennis Schmelz

It was a long-term dream of mine to visit this unique area in Asia. Actually, it was at the very top of my bucket list of places to see. I’m so glad that I finally got to this picturesque landscape in the south of China, it definitely didn’t disappoint.

The area around Yangshuo is considered to be one of the world's most beautiful places in the world with its karst landscapes, crystal-clear rivers, idyllic countryside, sublime rice terraces and historic culture.
