Chrome roses from my 'Flora Excursoria Hafniensis' series, referencing a book of the same title by Danish botanist Salomon Thomas Nicolai Drejer, published in 1838, on the one hand, and 'Burning Chrome' by cyberpunk writer William Gibson, published in 1982, on the other.

Burning Chrome

The Royal Veterinary and Agricultural University, founded in 1856, was a veterinary and agricultural science university in Copenhagen, Denmark, up till its merger with University of Copenhagen in 2007.

Surrounding the buildings, designed by Gottlieb Bindesbøll, are the unique gardens which house more than 6,000 different plants.

167 years later, this picture was taken and brought into the 'Flora Excursoria Hafniensis' series.

The MOCA (Museum of Crypto Art) Fundraiser 2023 is a collaborative piece of art, a digital interactive exhibition and a dissemination of 714 artworks created by artists from all over the world.

My contribution to the fundraiser, a photo, was taken in the Copenhagen Metro in June 2023 with an old Nikon D3 (2007), Nikon’s first full-frame DSLR, and a vintage 55mm 2.8 micro Nikkor lens from around 1989. In a sense, the photograph serves as a bridge between past and future technologies – simple black & white pixels in what I expected to become an artwork full of AI- and CGI-based colours.

The contribution differs markedly from my other work (for example ‘Flora Excursoria Hafniensis‘ & ‘Objects for an Ideal Home‘).

The 'Flora Excursoria Hafniensis' series by Kasper Bergholt takes its part of departure in a book by the Danish botanist Salomon Thomas Nicolai Drejer in 1838 at which point Drejer was 25 years old.

From 1841 to 1842 Salomon Thomas Nicolai Drejer was the editor of ‘Flora Danica’, which he did not finish due to an untimely death caused by nicotine intoxication.

His work on ‘Flora Danica’, which can be described as one of the comprehensive atlases of botany from the Age of Enlightenment, was published in 1843 in a collaboration with fellow botanists Joakim Frederik Schouw and Jens Vahl.

185 years later, this picture was taken and brought into the 'Flora Excursoria Hafniensis' series.

The Pentax K10D was launched in 2006 and is the last APS-C sensor-based camera from Pentax to use a CCD sensor.

This camera was used for Looking' Through the Windows of the Palm House', a series of five NFTs published on Foundation in October 2024.

Following 'Objects for an Ideal Home', 'Flora Excursoria Hafniensis', 'The Time Is Out of Joint' and, lastly, 'Isomorphics'.
