This song is born from the inspiration of finding what brings me in, what livens up my day, sometimes I need a little intense motivation in the form of deep beats, the vibration of music sets me right. Dub music is a huge influence on me, the sounds and tones Dub music culture create are exciting and attractive to my ear and heart. Putting me on my own path of sound wizardry, mixing sounds and styles together to create new flavors, beats and textures for your ears to feel and your mind to wander.

This piece holds many feelings for me. It is the first visual I created for Red Flower Lake - the electro pop duo that is me and my wife. It was the first song we released that features my vocals. My feelings were raw and poured through me into this song. That moment is captured in this piece of art.

Backstory:  
Rush Delivery. The credits just cleared your account, and couriers who don't ask questions get to charge extra. Enough to put your evening on hold to pick up some package downtown, and take it out to the suburbs, like, NOW.

Your ignition catches, the engine roar piercing the night air, urgent. Where'd you even get this car? Post-prohibition, a petrol-burner requires an expensive "historic vehicle" permit... But your buddy built you an unregistered one out of scrap instead. No GPS, no speed limiter, and (bonus!) no NMPD transponder.

There's no petrol at all in Neo Metro anymore, so the engine is modded to run on used soybean oil, which means it smells... vaguely like tempura.

Fast as hell though.

01 Midnight Boulevard_Music NFT

The first crackling sounds you hear are from a dried seedpod I found walking along the beach. I took the seedpod home and recorded my fingers strumming the brittle and dry texture on the outside of the seedpod, this created the sound I then sampled and used. When I listen to this record I hear the raw creativity I was tapped into when creating this album. Lots of all nighters and long days finding vintage gear that added to the “color” of the sonic palette I was producing. I recorded this in my first home studio I built centered around my Mackie 24 Channel Mixing board and 8 track ADAT Super VHS recorders, lots of collaboration and vocal recording with my now lovely wife Rahimah AKA Red Flower Lake, this was one of our first musical collaborations. There are some “mistakes” that I did not/could not fix, as each song was an analog mix done in real time that I had to choose my best mix performance from, and each mix had some fun experiments that went well, and some that did not, but this adds to the risk and vulnerability I had to breakthrough to allow this music to come forth. Now when I listen and hear those parts I like them because they remind me of how magical everything was in that time.

02 Upscale Promenade  
It’s actually kind of clean here — cleaner than your record, at least. The package you pick up is thankfully small; attracting any more attention here would be a liability.

03 Viaduct Overpass  
This crumbling bridge crosses the river into a deregulated zone - drone depots, agra-cults, unlicensed labs, and social hangout spots for the (rightfully) paranoid. You know the way well. 

04 Catacombinations  
This club used to be a subway station, the tracks epoxied over into a glowing dance floor. As you pass the package to the bartender, they offer you a drink — looks like distilled drone fuel. Hard pass.

05 Capsule Alley  
This pre-fab pod siphons power and hot water from exposed conduits on the megacorp’s skyscraper. It's got a great view… And it's home.
