Each artwork created by John Sum (the “Artist”) is legally linked to an on-chain Certificate of Authenticity (COA) in the form of a non-fungible token (NFT) on the Ethereum blockchain. The COA NFT serves as both definitive proof of the artwork’s authenticity and confirmation of the owner’s legal rights to the artwork.

In the event of a sale or resale of the artwork, it is essential that the COA NFT be transferred to the new owner. The transfer of the COA NFT ensures the continued integrity of the artwork’s provenance and authenticity. Failure to transfer the COA NFT means that the buyer will not receive verified proof of ownership and, as such, will not legally own the artwork.

Upon purchasing an artwork, the delivery of both the physical piece and the COA NFT must be arranged privately between the buyer and the seller. John Sum does not facilitate or handle resale transactions. However, if the artwork is purchased directly from John Sum, he will contact the buyer through their Ethereum address via the Blockscan Chat app to personally arrange the logistics of delivery.
