*As a generative artist, I was so happy to see LACMA announce their Coded: Art Enters the Computer Age, 1952-1982 exhibition and appreciate their continued engagement with programs like the Art + Tech Lab, but this is a really special moment for me personally, and all of the other generative artists in The Cozomo de' Medici Collection. In the 60s and 70s artists were scolded for using computers to make art but it's wonderful to see an increasingly technologically savvy population embrace a new vision of creativity, natively digital art, and the idea of automation as an artistic medium. The explosion of generative art over the past few years may seem sudden to some, but it has been bubbling beneath the surface for decades and has deep roots in the art history of the 20th century. With the help of community leaders and stewards, like The Cozomo de' Medici Collection and LACMA, I'm beyond excited to see what comes next."

A feeling I can't put my finger on

"Al-Collaborative artists are no strangers to critique of their medium. With any sufficiently new and transformative movement come declarations of what is "not art." Though I have always been vocal in my passion for the medium, my work as an Al-Collaborative artist-particularly with a focus on accessible, no code tools--is not immune. When The Cozomo de' Medici collection first acquired my work in 2021, it was a watershed moment, not only me, but for the budding community of artists using accessible Al to create. A public, visible statement on the significance of an early movement, the continued, careful patronage of Al-Collaborative work inspired us to keep pushing the boundaries of the medium. The following years have proved exponential for Al-Collaborative art's growth, beginning to trickle not only into mainstream consciousness, but to bastions of our cultural history. Seeing my work stewarded by LACMA, a museum synonymous with curation that drives the global conversation on art and creativity, is an honor I can scarcely comprehend, and a deeply historic step for Al Collaborative art and its artists."
