When I was in the boat and then a sudden call from a boat driver made the birds fly towards him encircling the boat it felt like some magic is about to happen as an opening to the other world. I couldn’t believe my eyes at this surreal experience. My heartfelt joy which is shouting inside and a spark of light in my eyes made me have this capture.

The Magic

Sailing in the boat into the mist of happiness with the other fellow boats which are already in the mist. And the seagulls which are adding a sense of mystery to the scene. To reach the destination I arrived at 5 am and I couldn’t believe myself in the scenic beauty which I completely felt lost in. I have frozen this moment of happiness on my canvas.

Festival Of Love: 

A photographer’s affair with the colours… 

In Hinduism, Mathura is the birthplace and homeland of the Hindu God Krishna. The city is also one of seven sacred cities in India. Because of its importance, Mathura is also the best place to see and celebrate the colourful Holi Festival in a most traditional way. This religious city is full of history and amazing culture.

Holi is a Hindu festival that is celebrated each year at the beginning of Spring, mostly in March, and signifies love and the victory of good over evil. Although the dates each year change, the celebrations typically begin a few weeks before the actual date.

As a result of the magnitude of the event, it happens across three different villages over three days. A visit on any one of the three days is sufficient to experience this event, but many adventurous souls come for the full experience by participating in all three locations.

In the story, Lord Krishna and his friends went to Barsana, a village nearby that is believed to have the only temple in India dedicated to Radha - Krishna's lover and companion - to play Holi and trouble the women. There, among all the merriment and gaiety, the women chase them out with sticks.

To defend their village, the men of Barsana travel to Nandgaon to play Holi and face a similar fate, wherein this time the women of Nandgaon "beat" the young men of Barsana with sticks. On the third day, residents of both villages head over to Vrindavan to play Phoolon ki Holi (Holi of Flowers), bringing this three-day festival to a close.

For centuries, this event has attracted photographers and keen viewers from across the world because of its uniqueness, drama, history, and a burst of colour.  

The struggle is real, this photograph shows the complete hard work and dedication of a photographer to get a beautiful shot irrespective of the situations they face like the dust in the sensors, dust in the eyes, the crowd push, water on the camera etc. This photograph is dedicated to every photographer who is documenting Indian Culture irrespective of situations.

Shakti: The word "Shakti" means power, and it refers to the divine feminine power or energy that is believed to be present in the universe. Goddess Parvati is considered as the embodiment of this divine feminine energy or Shakti.

Lord Shiva's Masan Holi, a divine sight,  
Celebrated with devotion, all day.  
The sound of damru echoes in the air,  
As devotees sing and dance with flair.  
The ashes from the sacred pyre,  
Are smeared on Lord Shiva, with great desire.

According to the mythology, Lord Shiva after marrying Goddess Parvati on Maha Shivratri came to Kashi on Falgun Shukla Ekadashi. This day is celebrated as Rangbhari Ekadashi ahead of Holi festival.  
The Goddess Parvati and the Lord Shiva together play holi along with all the devottees of Lord Shiva during Rangbari Ekadashi with Pyre from the dead bodies. 

This Photograph was captured during the celebration of Rangbari Ekadashi On March 7, 2023 at 5:32 PM, during a long walk around the city with the play of devotees dancing and singing, while devotees dressed like Parvati dancing to the beats of Damru I have captured this frame depicting the TRIDENT Or Trishul Of the Lord Shiva as the foreground and the aggressive form or Shakti as a Portrait.

When I travelled to Ajmer, I came across this beautiful capture of generations. As the kid is talking to her mom in a video call, her grandmother is enjoying looking at her. From an early age towards the end, she knows everything and she is still maintaining her smile while taking care of her young granddaughter. And the cycle continues…

On the third day when I wanted to have a model to describe the experience with her in the frame. I was not fully satisfied on the third day because there were only a few birds and my model came from a long journey. But, we have to make use of the things from the surrounding. I made her sail on the other boat and made the boat driver hide by sitting down in the boat. And then I waited for one bird so that I could portray the freedom of being alone. That’s where the capture happened.

Kummattikali or Kummatti Kali is the famous colourful mask-dance of Kerala, prevalent in Thrissur District, Palakkad District and parts of South Malabar. During the festival of Onam, Kummattikali performers move from house to house collecting small gifts and entertaining people. Kummatti dances are rampant in the Thrissur district during Onam. Shri Vittal Birdev festival is celebrated to commemorate the birth anniversary of Vitthal Birdev Maharaj, who is considered to be a reincarnation of Lord Vishnu. The baba is God's messenger, and people seek his blessings for a healthy life. He's revered for his ability to foretell his predictions about farming, rain and future conditions of the country which is helpful to the people of the community.

Vittal Birdev Yatra in Pattan kodoli is unique. During the 4 days of celebration of Lord Birdev Maharaj’s birthday, the sky turns yellow because people throw bhandara (a turmeric like yellow powder) and everything in the village turns yellow. Vittal Birdev Jatra of Pattan kodoli is Maharashtra's most colourful Bhandara festival.  
Lakhs of Dhangar community people gather at Vittal Birdev temple in Pattan kodoli village. Men, women and children take this arduous journey on foot. Most of the devotees who make this journey are aged men and women with great wisdom and strength. They gather on the temple premises to celebrate this festival. 
During the group singing and drumming, people shower Bhandara on everything they like to worship. They throw the yellow powder and pieces of coconut into the temple premises and surrounding areas. The showering of Bhandara is a vibrant activity and it results to turn the temple and its surroundings yellow colour.

When I travelled to Pushkar, I met these girls named Priyanka & Mamata and they also said they are not their original names. They explained to me they had to hide their real names from new people because they didn't know where they came from as kids. I got Emotional. These are the kids who might be adopted and are thrown away from home at an early age. So, they are working with their hidden names to earn a living. The elder one Mamata has been taking care of the younger girl Priyanka for 4 years. So they developed such a close bond which you can see in the photograph. 

You can see them smiling, but a volcano is burning deep inside.

The collection "Super 7" was created by Arun Kumar Nalimela and depicts the wonders of women ranging from their early years to their final years.

Despite pain, insults, difficulties, loneliness, and showing love as well as hatred, the woman is the strongest and the greatest of all. At the same time, she is everything and nothing.   Does the world know how valuable she is?   Is the world aware of her patience?   Earth won't have a morning unless she opens her eyes in the morning,   The people will not move if her bangles don't move,   Your boundless love for each generation and your endless efforts prove all.   Without her, the world would be without a lamp.   It is your love and care that makes every man a baby   It is you who makes everyone smile.  

From the very beginning of their lives, women have faced many struggles,   There are some children who are left on the streets knowing that they are girls.   From an early age, some children have to deal with the burden of cooking for the rest of their lives.   In order to earn money, some girls are sent far from home,   It is not uncommon for girls to get married at an early age,   There are some women who take care of farming,   There are some women who care for their children at home.   There are some girls who live under the custody of their brothers-in-law.  

While enduring all of these hardships, she never forgets to smile, hiding all of her sorrows deep inside.  

It's not enough to portray what a woman faces in 7 photographs, but I wanted to preserve their faces, showing little emotions. Throughout history, their power has been unmatchable and untouchable.

To all the powerful women out there not giving up on their smiles, my whole collection is dedicated to them as Super7.

The ghat is a spectacular site where hundreds of seagulls gather to feed at dawn. A breathtaking scene is created when the reflections of the birds on the still water are combined with the colours of the sunrise.

Despite the fact that a lot of people visit here, it has become a place for a bunch of photographers. In order to capture them uniquely, I chose to make them monochrome. To add a 3D view to the pictures, I made sure to compose in such a way to involve layers such as foreground, mid, and background. I visited the place on three consecutive mornings to capture the fog and sunrise.

On the first day, I was very excited and saw only a few birds, but I felt amazing at the first sight. I was blown away by the second day. The birds gathered around us, the sounds, the scenery, everything was incredible. This feeling is like opening up to another world, and you have to feel it firsthand. I tried to capture the surreal experience with my camera.

The third day was not so great as there were only a few birds. But, all in all, the experience felt like a lifetime.

Though it is a sacred body of water on the Indian subcontinent, the Yamuna River is also among the dirtiest rivers in the world. Although this refuge appears beautiful on the outside, beneath its surface lies an unfathomable amount of sewage.

Yamuna Ghat - The Magic Of Seagulls

The story behind the origin of Kandanar Kelan goes like this. A person called kelan who hail from theeya caste came to a hilly area in search of his livelyhood through farming.One day a bit intoxicated, he set fire to shrubs in order to clean up the place.Unexpectedly, the fire spread off and kelan was in the midst, fire all around him. There was no way to escape and kelan climbed a tree as a last resort. Alas, there was a snake on the tree. Kelan and Snake fell into the burning fire. Kelan met with death along with the snake. It was the time when Wayanatt Kulavan had set out for his daily hunting and he happened to pass through this area.
Vayanatt Kulavan on seeing the burnt body of Kandanar Kelan, touched his body with his bow. Kelan got his life back immediately. Kandanar Kelan who got a rebirth befriended with Wayanatt Kulavan. Thus Kandanar Kelan also became divine and started being performed as Theyyam. As Kelan was found in the forest fire, he was called Kandanar Kelan.
