Traits: 1, 3, 4, 5, 10, 30, 100 Our picks: 1, 3 (fully-filled, window), 30, 100 Hidden traits: Fully filled out Guide 3, 4, and 5; symmetric guide 3, 4, and 5
Overview: The Guide trait creates perhaps the most visual variance in anticyclone. The different numbers correspond to the number of tiles that make up each piece. For example, a 4 guide is a 4x4 grid.
Rarities: In this category guide 10s are the most rare with only 14 (2%) in the collection, followed by guide 1 and guide 30 with 82 (10%) and guide with 100 (12%).
Guide 1s are left with a completed look without any interruptions in the colors of the shapes.
Guide 3s begin to have tiles without color and the whisps of the shapes continuing between tiles. This can lead to unintended patterns and collectables, such as the window pattern with the middle tile hollow, and completely filled out pieces.
Guide 4s and 5s similarly gain their structure from the shapes within tiles, and can be collected by emerging traits such as completely filled.
Guide 10s, 30s, and 100s begin to derive their main character by the variations of hollow and filled tiles, with the 100s being a breathtaking display of the higher level cyclone patterns.
"Anticyclones are a weather phenomena. They pierce through darkness to instill peace and calm. Their planetary scale reminds us of how little we are and how powerful they can be. High pressure, rotation, air flow… The "Anticyclone" series is an artistic exploration and interpretation of those concepts. The rendering borrows its aesthetics from traditional and organic media like paper and crayons, to lend an analog/archival look. 'Can a computer draw like a human?' The question is asked and challenged once more through 'Anticyclone'". -William Mapan

Most Impactful Categories: Guide, Time, Name
Best Guide traits: Guide 1, Guide 30, Guide 100, Guide 3/4/5 if fully filled or with a symmetric filling pattern (e.g. "window" guide 3s)
Hidden traits: Fully filled out Guide 3, 4, and 5; symmetric guide 3, 4, and 5
Best Time traits: Night, Unknown
Best Name traits: Billie, Nzinga, Elizabeth, Ada (although there are many more)
Impressions: There truly are no bad picks in this collection and the market has reacted explosively to what is on it's way to becoming a blue-chip (many say it is one tier below). Although every piece is beautiful, the categories and traits above command a premium in the market and are visually distinct. When considering a purchase, these are targets we believe could grow in value relative to other pieces in the collection. The market is has traditionally undervalued the guide 10s and some named palettes, as well as hidden traits such as fully-filled guide 3s and symmetric guide 3 / 4 / 5. We believe these could be good targets for the mid to long term.
Background
Editors' Summary
Your hosts: @astamcloud and @jared_poz
Traits: Day, Night, Unknown Our picks: Night, Unknown Hidden traits: None
Overview: The Time trait impacts the palette background. Night is the inverts many of the colors found in the day palette and creating striking color contrasts. The Unknown palette resembles a sketch and corresponds to the Graphite trait category. The Unknown palette commands a premium due to it's rarity and sketch-like view, and could be thought of as another "name" category given the visual distinction.
Rarities: Unknown is the most rare with 33 (4%). Night is also relatively rare with 111 (14%)
The Day palette is the standard background, which Mapan has beautifully designed with a very real-life appearance in the image.
The Night palette is a black background yet still retains the real-life appearance of the Day variant. These are simply stunning and result in some of the best outputs.
The Unknown palette gives a notebook sketch look and feel, creating a beautiful, nostalgic look to the pieces.

Traits: Ada, Bertha, Billie, Camille, and many more (24 in total) Our picks: Ada, Billie, Elizabeth, Nzinga Hidden traits: Some Name categories have variations of color patterns within the "name" which could be collected (e.g. Billie has a variety of color schemes)
Overview: The Name traits correspond to the color outputs in the collection. Mapan masterfully combined and contrasted colors in a way that draws your attention. The detail and range of these traits is apparent in palettes such as Sirimavo where the Night pieces are vividly distinct from the Day. Some have a relatively consistent color palette (e.g. Ada), while others have a large degree of variation (e.g. Billie). There truly are more than 4 that we and the market love, but we had to constrain ourselves a bit =).
Rarity: No trait is particularly more or less rare in this category (the # of items in a given "name" ranges from 21 to 59, or 2.6 to 7.3% of the full collection).

As with any collection with long-term staying power - which we truly believe will be the case with Anticyclone given the reception and current price action - there are likely to be emergent collecting behavior and traits outside of the metadata. These are simply some of our favorite characteristics and ones the market has clearly valued . Whenever we can we will update this gallery to reflect that any newly discovered traits.
