Exhibition Statement "Tricolore":
In celebration of the vibrant host city of NFT Paris, Ledger curators highlight a selection of Art Blocks artworks embracing the blue, red and white of the French flag, known as the Tricolore. Adopted in 1794 after the French Revolution, the Tricolore design uses ancient white to represent the nation and the monarchy, blue to symbolize Saint Martin, and red for Saint Denis – patron saints who watch over the ville de Paris.
The power of color is universally understood, and one of the most instinctual ways that human beings communicate. Colour is a tool that artists have used for centuries to tell stories and stir emotion. Generative artists are no exception.
Through the use of common color, this exhibition seeks to explore the enormous breadth of artistic variation possible within the field of generative art. With works from across Art Blocks Curated, Presents and Explorations collections, icons like Tyler Hobbs’ Fidenza, Dmitri Cherniak’s Ringers, and Matt Kane’s Gazers, sit comfortably in conversation with Kelly Milligan’s Act of Emotion, Hannah Yan’s Totem of Taste, and JEANVASCRIPT’s The Beauty of Skateboarding.
