Click the artwork to start. Rituals - Venice is a collaboration between Aaron Penne and Boreta. It combines generative music and generative artwork which will continue to create new patterns for ~9 million years. All music is synthesized in the browser from on-chain javascript code, there are no samples. The first 200 were minted in real life at Bright Moments in Venice, CA, USA in September 2021. Counterpoint (ctpt.co) helped produce the music code. Please be patient, these live scripts are resource hungry and it may take a few seconds for things to respond at first. Best experienced on modern equipment.
You can play different pieces at the same time and new harmonic worlds will emerge. It’s a harmonic exercise: you feel the tones of the art like a sound bath, or the ocean. The audio is generated from a combination of binaural tones, subtractive oscillators, and low frequency oscillators (LFOs) pulsing at odd time signatures so that it unexpectedly evolves over time. There are 12 compositions, or songs. These three are: Harmonic Transmission, Emanating Dreamscape, and Oceanic Expanse
The music and artwork are driven in parallel by 17 waveforms. The initial states of the phase of these waveforms are deterministically based on the hash, meaning the still images is always the same. Once you click, random phases are calculated, and the waveforms ramp to those new values over 15 seconds as the audio fades in. This means the music and animation are always different. You can sit and listen to the piece repeatedly and hear it new each time. There are 10 colors, these three are Halcyon. Each is a different composition but plays uniquely and harmoniously together.
This project is about the exploration of interconnectedness, non-ordinary states of consciousness, present-time awareness. Side note: there are several hidden traits. Some are obvious like these two spirals flexing in opposing directions, and some more subtle like the layering given to the primary shapes.
We invite you to hold space for yourself and enjoy a moment of mindful stillness. Thank you to all the wonderful people who were able to come to the IRL event and who worked it, and thank you to all the collectors who are part of this Rituals community.
