I had a dream I was simultaneously every human that had ever lived and would ever live. I was given birth to and died over a trillion times in a trillion different ways on a billion different planets and I felt the warmth of a million different suns.

The Disappearing Act

I have found that evenings come with a certain characteristic poetic energy that permeates everything the light of setting Sun touches. It is a feeling of being transported to another realm charged with a kind of mystical electricity that accentuates every visual stimulus and sometimes even other sensations too; the mundane becomes transcendent but this magic only happens if you open yourself up to it and let the light in. 

I have attempted to condense and draw out this fleeting experience for an eternity. You can always come back here anytime you wish to be touched by this magic or better still go outside, touch some grass and let the light of the setting sun gently caress your face and transport you to a twilight reverie.

Enigma 2

Minted on my Manifold contract, Enigma is a collection of ballpoint pen drawings I created over the course of three months in 2021 at a time I struggled with understanding myself and my place in the world.

Each drawing is an expression/study of the ephemeral nature of the subconscious mind and what lies beyond it. The techniques learnt while making these would go on to influence all of my later works.

And as that familiar warm light gently washes over us to welcome us home, we are sent back to that earthly domain... and we do this over and over again; remembering, forgetting, becoming, until we realize all of life is a never ending journey back to ourselves.

'The pursuit of happiness takes away more than it gives. I know that now.'
''So what is it you seek then, if not happiness?''
'Peace. Quiet. The space between silence.'
''That's so vague. How would you know when you've found these things?''
'That's the thing. You don't. They find you instead.'
''What?!''
'See, desire is the root of suffering and Limbo is my ticket to heaven.'
''So you just sit around and wait and be... forgotten?''
'I was never here to begin with.'
''Here? Wait are we in-?''
'Yes, we are. I am.
And all there's left to do is wait and breathe... in the space between silence.'

In this digital era, it is now possible to shuttle across different virtual worlds from the comfort our homes. Blessed with this ability to escape our reality, mankind creates a new utopia on the metaverse appealing to every conceivable sensory delight.

With less time being spent in the "real" world, how do we keep ourselves from slowly evolving into a cyber species unable to function outside the metaverse?


Curiosity III

As we get older, we struggle to hold on to the light we are born with. The world constantly tries to get us to conform to its systems and patterns that often conflict with our own inner voice.

This self portrait is a reminder that it is never too late to retrace our steps and find our connection with our Truth.
