The original photo was taken in the Chesler Park area of Canyonlands National Park.  Backpacking is one of my favorite things to do.  I get to spend a night/nights in the backcountry without any distractions.  Life is simple in the backcountry because there are only a few things that you have to do.  Set up your tent, find a water source and filter water, boil water to rehydrate your freeze dried meals, and store your food (hang, cannister, or in a bear box if you're lucky).  

The physical journey from point A to point B each day gives me time to go on a mental journey.  I stand in the sun and feel the warmth on my skin.  I stop in a meadow and listen to the birds sing.  I just stop and admire the beauty that surrounds me.  I get to dream about the things I want to do or places I'd like to visit.  It also gives me time to let go of the negative and become a better me.

Queen has been known to wear a devils hat when extreme sledding with friends.  What is extreme sledding?  We hike to the top of a mountain with a full sized sled and sled back down.

The devils hat was acquired from a vendor at Bryant Park in NYC nearly 15 years ago.  It frightens my cats.  One cat growls at me, one won't come near me and my third cat left a trail of pee as he ran away to hide.

Mons created Oceans of Adventure by combining two pictures of Queen.

The first picture shows Queen scuba diving in Cozumel.  The photo was taken beside a deep wall where Queen was suspended in the water column - it felt like flying.  Angelfish are regularly seen on dives in warm locations.

The second picture shows Queen boogie boarding in Rhode Island.  Sailboats are seen in the distance - often sailing into or out of Newport.

Queen loved the water since she was a baby.  Her grandparents lived on a pond and they had to tie a rope to her life jacket and the dock so she wouldn't swim away.  Her father would water ski on a large wooden disk, standing on top of a bar stool with Queen on his shoulders.  You can see where she got her sense of adventure and love of the water from.

Queen was a lifeguard throughout college and learned to scuba dive as soon as she graduated.  Most of her dives have been in the cold, dark ocean in Rhode Island exploring wrecks.  She took many classes to improve her skills and achieved the Master Scuba Diver level.  She continued her education, assisted with open water classes and became certified as a Divemaster - the first professional level in scuba diving.  

Scuba diving isn't her only love - she spends much of her time in the summer going kayaking and swimming wherever she can.

Adventurous in Real Life is a collection of work based on real life experiences. Each piece will be a collab with a different artist. Each artist chooses a photo that resonates with them and reimagines it in their style. I chose the first 5 artists for the collab pieces. All subsequent collabs will be referrals from previous artists. The direction of this collection will be organic.
