Übergang / Transition

Klangteppich is an invitation to slow down and feel a sense of home in our fast-paced, mobile world — wherever you may fare. It creates a calming virtual enclosure, and a physical base to rest on.

Klangteppich is a woven work that belongs to the physical as much as to the digital world. You can touch it, feel it, hang it on a wall, sit on it, roll it up and take it with you. Originating from code, it is digital at heart, yet physical in nature. A blend of age-old weaving techniques with digital aesthetics and production methods. 

Klangteppich is a digital piece that slowly evolves in endless reverberations. The visuals and music change as you view the piece. So does the tapestry, only slower. The abstract shapes and patterns reference the aesthetics of weave patterns while remaining digital in essence. The soundscape incorporates audio recordings of the loom, a remnant of the physical piece within the digital.

Alongside the live-generated visuals and music, the code produces the instructions for the loom. Every frame of the animation can be woven. Holders of a Klangteppich NFT will be able to order a tapestry (ca. 66 x 106 cm) of any frame of the digital piece. This will come at an additional cost, and will take some time to produce.

Patchwork

640 unique sketches of imaginary walls, inspired by the work of Norwegian architect Erling Viksjø (1910–1971) and his artist collaborators. Viksjø designed the Government Quarter in Oslo and invited artists from different disciplines to help design the facades and interiors of the buildings.

Viksjø’s aim was to “soften” modernist architecture. He invented «Natural Concrete», a type of concrete that deliberately exposes the mixed-in stones on its surface to give it warmth and a human touch. In my work, I have similar ambitions—using code instead of concrete.

The different styles of the piece are inspired by, and dedicated to some of the artists who worked together with Viksjø: Jakob Weidemann (~2%), Carl Nesjar (~18%), Odd Tandberg (~30%), and Tore Haaland (~50%).

There’s so much more to our world than what we are able to perceive, let alone understand. Will we ever be able to even fully understand ourselves?

Elevation is a series of 320 generative elevation drawings of imaginary structures. It is a reminder of the limits of our consciousness, and an ode to the manifold nuances that lie beyond what we can perceive, beyond what we even can imagine.

As a generative artist, I aim to elevate my own consciousness with the help of the machine. I welcome algorithms and randomness into the creation of my works, taking full control, and intentionally giving it away, always seeking to expand my imagination. For as humans alone, we remain limited to our own edifice of thought, and often fail to free ourselves from the visible, mundane world.

Both are present in Elevation: the visible and the imaginary, the mundane and the transcendent, the solid and the fragile. Where an architect’s elevation drawing marks the transition from the thought world into the visible world, Elevation remains in-between, depicting both the idea of an imaginary structure, and the structure itself.

An artwork that displays the contents of its sister OBJKT «Recursive Twins (1000/1000)», and vice versa.

This piece, minted as a 1/1 and sold at 1000 tez, fetches, frames and executes the code embedded in the description of its far less exclusive sister OBJKT, a 1000/1000 sold at 1 tez. The 1000/1000, in turn, puts a frame around its 1/1 companion. In this way, the two Recursive Twins get tightly intertwined, thus reducing the artificial scarcity of the 1/1 to absurdity as both pieces essentially swap their contents in an endless, recursive loop.
