Twenty-fourth of twenty-four Ectoplasms.

The Ectoplasm set was made by the end of 2019. It consists of 24 small intuitive drawings, without any initial purpose other than filling the sheet and letting the inspiration flow. In the course of the creation, I understood that the shapes and textures that I was materializing could mean something more than an inner landscape or a surreal vision. The forms and shadows started to repeat themselves into anatomic, vegetal and mineral pseudo-representations. And some plasma was growing within all the frames. That reminded me the old mediumic ritual of ectoplasm invocation, where the psychic deceived his audience with a whole show of lights and gauzes, finishing into a retouched photography that would immortalize the wonder. At that very moment, I knew that I was a psychic deceiving myself and paradoxically I felt the urge to give body to this set of freshly created emanations.

Then, I decided to prepare the whole set for a planned solo exhibition in 2020 at Fu:d Gallery (Buenos Aires, Argentina). I also made an artist book with a limited run of forty-two copies (designed, printed and bound by my hand) which gathers the drawings printed on tracing paper. But that was a long spectral show and reading where almost no one came because of the pandemic restrictions of that period. Despite the doubt and the circumstances — like in the old mediumic ritual of ectoplasm invocation — the unexpected wonder occurred: one of the rare visitor started to communicate with the Ectoplasms and finally took them to her art collection. Thinking today about this curious experience, it comes to my mind that it’s time, maybe, to immortalize the wonder, with a retouched picture that looks more real than the real one.

The nine paper Catagrams are an attempt to find the adequate gesture of a mark that could or would be a scripture, a writing, a calligraphy, for a contemplative deciphering.
The animated Catagrams are the continuation of the gesture, where the blinking glyph creates a new hallucinated and magnetic reading of each work.

Nine drawings (each 30 x 19,5 cm) made in 2020. All ink on french paper Rives Tradition 250g.

The digital collection includes twelve items (1920px 72dpi) : nine blinking catagrams (50 ed.), one animated positive set (15 ed.), one animated negative set (15 ed.) and one animated positive/negative set (5 ed.).

"Tutuguri" is a digital manipulation of a page from a book with some random and unnecessary strokes. It's a graphic extraction and experimentation from a previous work called "Zang tumb tumb" and a kind of tribute to the génialissime Artaud le Momo.

"The Appetite of Chronos"

Originally “The Appetite of Chronos” is a hand drawing (Indian ink on paper, 16 x 23 cm) made between March and June 2022. It's part of the series of works titled "Suite Chronos".
The digital version was made after a high resolution scan of the physical. It should be made clear that it's not a mere reproduction of the physical. The heavy edition process tried to enhance the intensity and depth of the texture and at the same time a new composition, even more complex, started to appear and to make disappear the limits between what was traced by the hand and what was multiplied by the software.

The Appetite of Chronos

A reflexion about time and his mythic personification. A huge amount of tiny dots from a tiny, patient and delicate pen.  Suite Chronos are five drawings made between 2019 and 2020. Indian ink on paper. These are unique NFT versions.

“The Quandary of Chronos” is a set of five pieces after an intermediary state of “The Appetite of Chronos” (ink drawing on paper). These “fragments” were extracted from a negative version of the physical work and then get a subtile digital manipulation.

Released before the achievement of “The Appetite of Chronos” and “The Triumph of Chronos”, “The Quandary of Chronos” reopens the path of the Suite Chronos two years after the creation of the first drawings of the series. (See five previous works in the collection.)

The Lost Gate to Nowhere

"Study for the Cabinet of Dr. Caligari"

This work was produced after a new version of the code of the long-form generative project "Chiaroscuro" (https://fxhash.xyz/generative/slug/chiaroscuro), where transparencies and reverberations of micro-textures create an overlapping monochrome stained-glass feeling. The present version seeks more depth and focuses on the aleatory composition, where (as in my hand drawing practice) perspective is deliberately mistreated and the accumulation of tiny details enforces textures and shapes. At some point of the process, it seemed to me the most of the outputs have gained balance and rhythm, showing irrational spaces, hollow dimensions. Eventually, it clearly appeared that, through my eyes, the machine was "painting" echo-landscapes of the old cinematographic expressionist dream.
