The time I saw the Rays in her. The Rays as a full blaze can only be captured as a burning spark, much like a fire striking alight in the dark. These pieces I found in the Rays were not mine to be held but it was here in this painting I found them, quite some time before they were held by another. The Rays released and yet locked in this moment even as it transformed from one feeling into another and, for just a brief moment, everything was perfect. (Painted in Procreate, late 2023).

Red Rays

This is what happened when I had an adoration for someone that wasn't quite understood. The hidden patterns show those hidden ideas, and my exploration into creating layers between the rays. I very often created symbolistic, abstract, tribal patterns as a form of therapy. All of them were unique and were never the same as they were made with a stream of consciousness in the moment. The rays are meant to show the energy that is there within the painting and the energy created in the feeling of the moment of the dualism of this portrait, showing what is there and what is not.

The One with the Red Rays

First one of my extended style series of Rays produced in my formative years. Rays are drawn to show many ideas like energy, the pieces we leave of ourselves on other people, and metaphysical relation between the viewer and the piece is used to draw in the viewers gaze. As a compositional element is also supports the frame of the artwork in the abstract. There are many reasons to use “rays”, here it is to show an intimate embrace and the energy between the two.

The One with the Red Dot

This creation marks the first time my rays appeared. The rays are an explorative way to find the painting, not only the figures underneath but also the energy they hold in the abstract. Used as both a compositional framing device and vessel for meaning, the rays encapsulate and simultaneously free the figures from the surface of the window the artwork resides in.
