Cyclops is a misunderstood villain of mythology. I envision them as a beautiful monster, a power figure. Here they stand regal, carved from yellow stone, atop a symbolically presented ancient temple made from moss patina'd mud from their home island.

Cyclops first appeared in my solo show "Year Zero" at bitforms gallery, NYC. This re-minting is in honor of the reappearance of this digital sculpture in my exhibition "👁" at Art Mûr gallery, Montreal.

Baroque decorative language inspired by Mannerist themes. 
		The theme in this one is Roman Heaven. 
The beauty and the grit.

Messenger is a reference to the messenger god Hermes from Greek Mythology. In this case the reference to sculpture in the classical manner is embellished with symbols from her own personal pantheon. Based on scans from her own body and featuring "RAM" in the decorative embellishment. Auriea’s dedicated concentration on historical narratives is refigured through her retellings of analog and digital elements, unifying antiquity with emergent technology.

This image was a work in progress moment during the sculpting of the first version of Ox. I used it to determine the colors of the second physical painted resin sculpture. This NFT serves as a collectible along with that sculpture. While they are not inextricably linked to one another and can be separated, this image serves as a companion to that physical sculpture and can be used as a Certificate of Authenticity if the sculpture ever changes hands.

The character of Persephone, who in mythology is forced to become queen of the underworld but returns above ground each spring, has special meaning for the artist as a guardian of borders. Harvey imagines a ritual sculpture of the tragic heroine, as a being who watches over the origin point of virtual worlds as well. In some strange ritual she convenes with her selves and the spot marked in the center is the 0,0,0 coordinate inside every 3D space. One is left to wonder if the tension of this moment were broken would the solidity of our tangible reality break as well.

This small sculpture of Ram is broken, as are all images of Ram historically. Records found at the site of its discovery note: when it was dropped it was fond to be made of a plaster which defies gravity! Whether this is because of the power inherent in the figure or the skills of the craftspeople in the region is anyone’s guess. The makers of this Ram statuette were probably just as mystified by this behaviour as we are today.

Description:
Portrait of a young girl, painted in digital-bright blocks of color. Through 3D scanning she was brought into virtual suspension, no past, no future, only the frozen now. Her expressive face, captured in a moment. And as her unseen physical self ages, she remains.
A holographic screen allows her to remain eerily present.

Auriea Harvey (USA/BE, 1971) is a digital artist and sculptor living and working in Rome. Her practice encompasses virtual and physical artworks created with a blend of digital and handmade production. Drawing from her extensive experience in net art and video games, she brings a synthesis of mythology, autobiography, art historical reference and imagination – made visible through form, interaction and immersion. Auriea is engaged across time, media, and material to define what sculptural production means in the present moment.

In "PUSHER," ThankYouX explores the intersection of physical and digital art, illuminating their unexpected commonalities. This work underscores how most paintings are often viewed through the lens of computers or cellphones, relying on thousands of digital pixels to represent what is traditionally known as physical artwork. The piece invites viewers to contemplate how art, no matter the medium, transcends its form to establish a universal language.

In the ancient Greek myth of Echo, the cursed nymph is condemned to only repeat the words of others. Auriea Harvey reimagines the story in the monumental sculpture Echo (2024). Featured in the exhibition My Veins Are the Wires, My Body Is Your Keyboard, this work depicts Echo's form transmuting into the mountainous terrain where legend has it she resides, caught in a silent process of metamorphosis. 

Echo: Core, featured here, serves as a companion fragment of the larger work. The essence of Echo's transformation is encapsulated, with entwined elements of earth and ice representing land, stone, and a frozen voice. Visitors have the unique opportunity to take home their own editions of this landscape, minted on the Tezos blockchain. By acquiring one of these editions, viewers become part of a larger narrative, symbolically echoing one another through the shared experience of claiming the artwork.
