I found myself scrolling through my collection of gen art mid Decenter and wanted to highlight a few artists and pieces I bought this year.

Willian Watkins is one of those artists whose works evoke strong emotions within me — and probably in most viewers regardless of their view on generative art. This contributes to what makes it so excellent in my opinion.

The first of his works I collected, Ridge Scribbles and Ridge Blur, are mysterious worlds in which to immerse yourself. Not to be viewed on small screens.

His latest work, which again strongly speaks to me, is Emotional Shell. It shows disfigured ghostly soul-like faces and questions what it means to be human.

His earlier projects Charcoal Landscapes and Anachronous already indicate the direction William Watkins has taken this year. I like the consistency and complexity in his work, which i see in this form in only a few artists in this space. Lines, structures, chaos. Darkness. Depth.

I've always been a fan of Piter Pasma since I first saw and read about his Skulptuur project on ArtBlocks. I'm very happy to have had the chance to collect his fx(hash) series Nanopanorama and Dot Produkt.

I love that Piter lets you play with settings, for example line width or line density in his Nanopanorama series. Very different results each time.

This year I could also finally get a few of Zancan's works. A Long Thread is a work I want to print soon. Also minted two Landscape with Carbon Capture.

Ira Greenberg's The Oracles is one of the most interesting generative AI art projects I have seen. It is the genesis project from "Emergent Properties" and built upon a custom-built pipeline which uses JavaScript "to create a program that randomized image input, text prompt creation and weightings, which then gets automatically fed into Stable Diffusion behind the scenes"
