years ago the ceiling caved in. The bathroom now has a hole larger than the Wells on central. I could see into the apartment above us, see the young couple crying. Times were rough but even worse with an accident like that. The shower was unusable, and I still had dirt on my feet. It would be fixed in a couple of days, the ceiling at least. When it was ready, it looked like the caving never happened. Off goes my shoes and socks, to tap the water that felt ice cold. I think the accident messed up the water heating system. Nothing left to do but still clean myself off, as shivers run down my spine. I hated it. Days and weeks passed me by as I stepped in to take another cold shower.

It’s usually hard for me to fall asleep. I try to picture myself suspended in the air, floating towards nowhere. I have a song that sticks in my head, that quietly hums a fond memory holding a heavy weight.

*pillow-talk* (2022) is a collection of abstract works that play on the idea of an intimate conversation. With the exception being it is with oneself. The works offer a colorful and messy interpretation of lines pulled from my personal journals, where my most deep conversations start. The journals act as markers in my life as I cope with past traumas, anxiety, waves of depression, the happiest moments, young adulthood to name a few. As a result, the words are littered in subtle imagery that looks at first to be out of place, and out of character. Overall, this collection are my thoughts and feelings fully realized as visual works, inviting the viewer to watch me reflect, accept and move forward with these journals, all before I fall asleep. I hope this shows that I am healing.

I envision the inner-workings of my body as a jigsaw puzzle, a maze of fragmented pieces. Many that don't fit together, unless positioned in its designated place. I've given pieces away, I've taken some for myself, and had some confiscated from me. All to end up losing this little body of mine. Though to whom do they belong? To the flickering light behind my eyes or to the one who could sign me a check. Amidst the rubble of my fractured identity, I live inside myself, gluing together this jigsaw, despite losing this little body of mine.

The title and the fact that they're all "missing" something definitely stands out to me. Them huddling together around a fire and over a subtle "superhero" speaks to me in a way idk if you explicitly intended but there's it makes me think of community and shared experiences despite or even through our differences
