Well Hung Lovers is a laugh-out-loud funny graffiti painted on a building that can be seen from Park Street in Bristol in the UK. It is an open secret who Banksy is and yet the anonymous pseudonym is enduring. The Dada Dot Dot alias was in large part inspired by Banksy. The Purple People Eater is a novelty song written and performed by Sheb Wooley, which reached No. 1 in the Billboard pop charts on June 9th 1958. On 12th March 2021, Mike Winkleman (Beeple) sold an NFT “Everydays: the first 5000 Days” for $69.35 Million Dollars making it the first on the list of most expensive non-fungible tokens. Only one of this Beeple collage will ever be minted.

“Big Triple Sold” is an edition of just three NFTs. The red “sold” dot marker convention confers legitimacy on an artwork, because it is a tangible demonstration of the commercial value of the artwork, i.e. it has been sold to someone who recognises its value. The “Sold” series of artworks are a playful exploration of meaning, content and the formality of pictorial space. The work challenges the definition of an artwork, inside and outside cyberspace, both on the blockchain and in the gallery.

The concept of body-art (and editions limited by death) rose to prominence in the 1960’s, but is even more relevant now, with the advent of blockchain provenance. These body-based artworks offer a unique and visceral experience, for both the viewer and collector.
The works are one-of-a-kind pieces that cannot be replicated or duplicated. No new editions of these artworks will be made after the death of the artist, consequently, as examples of early blockchain adoption, ownership may become more desirable and increase in value over time.
These artworks are highly personal and are expressed through the considered formality of the photography, giving them a sense of intimacy and power that is hard to find in other forms of art. The works document the artist’s human experience, capturing the beauty and complexity of the body. Preconceived notions of beauty, gender, and identity are challenged to offer new perspectives on our human position within the infinite.
