The red centre of Australia is thought by many to be a wasteland that is devoid of life. Really, it is vast landscape of desert plains, beautiful mountains, and sacred sites of the indigenous Aboriginal Australians. It is teeming with life, the home of myriad birds, kangaroos, and reptiles. "the red centre" is mae's tribute to those places that few will visit, but that will live forever in the hearts of those who do.

Uluru is a natural wonder of the world and a spiritual place for many indigenous Aboriginal Australians. The region around Uluru was first settled by people thousands of years ago, but Uluru itself has towered over the landscape for over 500 million years. Made of rock, Uluru was here long before people arrived and it will remain long after we are gone. "uluru" is mae’s tribute to the spiritual, ancient, enduring soul of Australia.

Rising from the plains like orange and grey striped beehives are the Bungle Bungles. Visitors are struck by the beauty of 20 million years of erosion. Time and Mother Nature grant the most beautiful gifts that must be seen in person to be appreciated. bungle bungles is mae's love letter to the natural wonder of her native Australia.

an exploration of the duality and delicate balance that comes with the human experience. 

we are, all of us, at almost all times, on one side of this door or the other. 

deep in the abyss, with the promise of warmth just out of reach, trying to drag ourselves over the threshold. 

or, surrounded by life, love, growth - but staring, focused, apprehensive. waiting for the abyss to consume us. 

unable to fully grasp the beautiful content of the present, because of the ever present, looming threat. 

the intent of my work is always to capture the human experience - as unique as it is universal. 

i hope you feel that, i hope it resonates and i hope you feel a little seen, a little heard and a little less alone.
