The great traversal combines point distributions and curved paths to bring to life interesting interwoven compositions. The traversers make their way through the canvas based on a simple principle - at every position the closest point is consumed and added to the traverser's path. Using Hobby curves to visualize these trails gives them an almost organic aesthetic.

A recursive homage to the iconic 10 print pattern.

This one started as a late night exploration starting from a simple snippet of code, iteratively adding complexity to it until I was able to generate a variety of different patterns.

This token implements FxParams, and the way I decided to go about it is a bit special. When you mint this token you get what you see - WYSIWYG! - What you see is what you get! - this is done by overriding the hash injected into the code and locking p5's randomness and noise seed manually as parameters.

Therefore, before you start tweaking these values, put the sliders at some random position for the noise and randomness seeds.

To reiterate:

  - The first two parameters are in place to override the hash that fxhash injects into the code!

  - This is to ensure that the token you ultimately mint is exactly the same as the token you composed for yourself by tweaking the parameters.

  - I recommend setting them to something random at the beginning, and then have fun changing the parameters.

  - Duplicates are technically possible if you set the random and noise seed to the same value as another person. But I don't see a good reason why you would want to do that. If you really want two mints that look exactly the same, that is also possible and I also don't see a reason why you shouldn't be able to do this.

The Parameters:

  1. Stroke Orientation: there's three different types of stroke orientation, which essentially determine how the lines in the artwork are slanted:
      - RIGHT: Horizontal and vertical strokes.
      - ANGLED: slanted forward and backward strokes.
      - MIXED: A combination of the two previous modes.

  2. Stroke Noise Frequency: the mechanism that decides if a stroke is slanted in a vertical or horizontal (alternatively slanted forward or backward), is based on an underlying perlin noise value. The higher the frequency of this noise, the more turbulently the strokes will alternate direction. Lower values produce smoother structures.

  3. Recursion Noise Frequency: Similarly to the previous parameter, a different noise value determines if the will be a recursive step creating a shorter and denser breakup of the lines. A higher frequency means that these breaks are more turbulent and more frequent and vice versa

 4. Density: Simply a parameter that controls the distance between the lines.

 5. Color Combo: Determines the colors applied to the artwork. There's three different options here.

 5. Invert Colors: A toogle that allows the inversion of the color scheme. Background color becomes stroke color and vice versa.

 6. Stroke Wobble: The higher this value the more swung the resulting lines are.

 7. Scribble Amount: determines the scribbliness of the lines. The higher this parameter is the more scribbly the lines are.

 8. Discontinuity Threshold: Controls the amount of discontinuity in the lines. A higher value means that there will be more gaps between the lines.

I spent some time studying the re-ocurring shapes in Kandinsky's artworks, with the main inspiration being his 1993 work 'Schnittlinien', and attempted to recreate those with code. This is the result.

  Exotic Quarpets began as an entry to Raphaelle de Courville's weekly creative coding challenge, with the topic being 'Quilts'. Taking inspiration from the Persian rugs that we would roll out at home every winter, I tried to create an aesthetic reminiscent of those with a gen-art touch.

  The generated images, depending on the aspect ratio that you get, are quite large at roughly 4kx4k pixels. Generating these images can take a few seconds depending on your device, so please be patient. Save the high rez image by pressing the S key on your keyboard, I recommend zooming in and having a look at all the details!

~ A wondrous tiny world. A universe in miniature. ~

Microcosm is a project that draws ideas and inspiration from a series of my previous sketches. It's an artwork where most of everything consists of tiny dots in different configurations: the clusters of dots that make up the patches, the cells and the squircles that occasionally enclose the patches.

The idea of making everything out of dots to convey a sort of hand-drawn style is derived from the ornamental lines in my Vestige GT. It is also an exploration on unorderly and uneven grids constructed via a rectangle packing algorithm that I discovered while working on random walkers.

I hope you enjoy the sketch as much as I enjoyed making it.

Notes on interactivity:
      
1. Left and right arrow keys toggle between the different views (1:1, landscape 16:9 and portrait 9:16 aspect ratios).

2. Press S or the down arrow key to download a .png of the current view you're in (right click save to capture entire screen).

3. Press I or the upwards arrow key to toggle the information screen that tells you about the features of your three views.

4. Clicking, and tapping on mobile on the left, right, bottom and top portions of the sketch effecuate the same actions, respectively.

Note on features:

PALETTE: The palette from which the cell patch colors are drawn.

SCALE: Overall size of the grid (number of rows and columns).

SPLIT: The percentage of cell patches which are contained within a squircle (as opposed to those that are not).

SPACING: maximum distance points can have in between each other in their respective clusters.

GRID_TYPE: randomization method by which the grid was created (there are a couple rare ones).

SHUFFLE_DRAW: Wether the initial drawing phase is done in order or not.

Addendum:

Features shown next to the sketch on fxhash correlate to those of the 1:1 aspect ratio sketch (the first view). The color palette is the sole feature that is shared between the three different views. This means that you are effectively obtaining three completely unique configurations.

  - a work of art made by grouping together found or unrelated objects

More than often, it is the case that my projects start out as collections of unrelated ideas. These ideas sometimes revolve around specific algorithmic concepts, with the aim to combine, remix and chain together methods in some novel way. In other instances these ideas are a vague vision of particular aesthetic that I'm trying to chase down. Usually though, it's a bit of a mix of both. Assemblage was conceived in this manner, evolving from the combination of several Genuary sketches.

To play into this narrative and further it a little bit, while searching for a suitable name for the project, I thought that the art in of itself, in some way, looked like a disassembled or shattered machine, with the constituent pieces scattered and strewn around in a chaotic manner. This is in contrast to fact that the items are actually positioned in a very orderly and systematic manner, where no two shapes can technically overlap or intersect, creating an interplay of Order and Chaos.

Vestige is a GT that creates colorful gradients by layering thousands of transparent shapes. This can sometimes take a couple of seconds (depending on your machine).

Notes on randomness and rarity:
This token generates a random permutation of a transmission. A transmission consists of a set of points (interceptors) that a diagonally spanned across the canvas, and connected with lines.
These interceptors can sometimes occur in a square shape.
Sometimes the signal fails to connect two dots, the amount of drops in these connections makes up the decomposition parameter.
The colored ligaments come in a variety of colors, and sometimes the entire transmission has a different color scheme. Some color schemes are extremely rare.

After being exposed for extended durations to high levels of radiation, MRPH - 73 exhibited an ability to rapidly regenerate lost tissue. It allowed the subject to heal from extensive damage at a rate far exceeding that of typical tissue. Unfortunately, the subject's cells were also altered in a way that caused them to be extremely unstable.

Fuliginous is a piece that explores thresholding Perlin noise. Multiple passes are made over the canvas while an underlying Perlin noise field is sampled, if the returned value falls within a certain range we draw a coloured dot. We repeat this process while shrinking the range and darkening/accentuating the colour of the drawn dots.

Hex Appeal is project created for the launch of fxhash 2.0 and curated under the "Colorful" KUMALEON x Okazz collaboration. 
		
The emergent patterns in Hex Appeal come to life through a blend of algorithms that I've been exploring over the past year. It is based on the idea that tesselations are closely related to graphs and can generally be represented as connected graphs, which can subsequently be traversed with a number of different traversal algorithms. Contouring these traversals then allows the creation of interesting patterns inside of the tesselation.

Big thanks to the fxhash team for making the platform possible and empowering generative artists.
