Portrait of Ashok. The Aghori are an austere sect of sadhus, known for embracing what is generally considered taboo. They might live near cremation grounds amidst the dead, use human ashes in their rituals, or keep a skull as a symbol of life's impermanence. Although these practices can seem sinister at first glance, they are underpinned by a profound spiritual intent. For the Aghori, whose lifelong endeavor is to recognize reality as an illusion, engaging in such taboo acts serves to dismantle the superficial layer of the material world. Varanasi, India.

Halloween in Brooklyn #16 - Mike’s Studio

HALLOWEEN IN BROOKLYN (2010 - ongoing) is a photography collection by Joey L which captures the cultural fragments of Halloween in our modern world. The festival today has very little to do with its origins, but it remains an authentic reflection of the world around us. It is a mirror of our new heroes, our new demons, our violence, and our consumerism. The old world outside our doors we used to fear is gone and has been replaced with the even worse devils that we know. Halloween happens only once a year, but it reveals something within us that has been there all along.


HOW IT WORKS: One token represents the entire collection of 66 Halloween images on a decentralized server. Upon mint, each NFT summons one of the 66 unique images in the collection. However, any token holder can “costume change” (re-skin) to any image within the collection at any time, summoning an image of choice to display. Every costume change is performed on-chain through a transaction on HALLOWEENINBROOKLYN.XYZ

Gameboy Camera (1998) image file extracted from Gameboy Cartridge and minted on the Ethereum blockchain.

Emulator 1: Guardian captures a tender moment: the artist’s son, Dallol, sleeping with his toy dinosaur. This intimate image represents a nostalgic homage to the artist’s own childhood and the quiet inheritance of dreams passed from parent to child. Using a 1998 Gameboy Camera—a device with a resolution of just 0.014 megapixels—the artist freezes a fleeting moment in time, embracing the creative limitations of early digital photography as a symbolic cornerstone of a journey that began with toy dinosaurs and a personal hobby website, Dino-Rama.com, created at age 10.

The collector of Emulator 1: Guardian receives a unique artifact as a gift: the original Gameboy Camera and Gameboy DMG console used to create the artwork. The DMG console, customized with an upgraded backlit IPS LCD screen, serves as the native frame for viewing the digital file in its original form. The console and camera provide a native experience of the work, honoring the origins of this nostalgic medium.
