“Squares” utilizes the shape of a square as a unit of construction, combining and overlapping them at various scales to create interplays of color, structure, and atmosphere. The overall effect is something along the lines of Bauhaus meets Blade Runner, as complex rectilinear forms float untethered through fields of light and texture.

The illustrious computer art pioneer releases her first and only on-chain generative art project investigating three notorious letter forms that changed the conversation around digital art forever. Themes and Variations is Vera Molnár’s personal reflection towards her decades-long practice with the 'machine imaginaire' in the midst of an unforeseen digital art boom brought forward through the introduction of NFTs.

Themes and Variations encompasses a collection of 500 unique generative artworks. Within these works, Molnár passionately explores ideas she has delved into since the late 1960s when she first embarked upon the realm of algorithmic art. Central to her artistic expression is the seamless integration of letters as pure abstract forms, coupled with her affinity for embracing disorder. This deliberate choice grants the machine a certain level of autonomy, allowing it to challenge and even contradict the predefined rules established by Molnár herself. Thus, through this exploration of a dynamic interplay between the artist and the machine, uncharted territories within her creative practice are unveiled.

"All these variations around letters resonate in me like music. Even though I stopped playing the piano at the age of 15, music has never left me. I immediately think of Goldberg Variations or Beethoven's Diabelli Variations on a Waltz. That's why I gave the title Theme and Variations to the latest project with the letters N, F, and T that I am working on for my first and only long form generative art project."

A collaboration between the ATP Tour, Art Blocks Engine and Martin Grasser, LOVE is a collection of unique digital artworks that uses in-match sports data to celebrate impactful moments from the 2022 Nitto ATP Finals in Turin, Italy. 

Our algorithm is built on the idea that there is beauty in the very rules of the game. And one of those rules is the court, a highly regulated environment that is essentially a handful of rectangles and lines. Add a ball—a circle, really—and the formula is complete. What we have is not just a record of incredible skill and sportsmanship, but art, as it were, ready-made.

Wherever the ball lands, we mark it. Underneath each ball is a shadow-like ellipse that indicates the direction and speed of each shot. We add color ensuring that each composition reveals at least one line and two fields of color. Then, with data generated by the ATP, we curate 300 of the most impactful moments from the Finals, from the fastest serve to the championship winning shot.

Themes and Variations is Vera Molnár’s personal reflection towards her decades-long practice with the 'machine imaginaire' in the midst of an unforeseen digital art boom brought forward through the introduction of NFTs.

To memorialize her debut long form generative art series on the blockchain, Vera Molnár has signed 25 exclusive Themes and Variations Artists’ books, which will be provided to the first 25 purchasers of Themes and Variations by Fall 2023 (available to initial buyers who still hold the work by the release of the book).


The auction will open with a starting price of 20 ETH which is the maximum price each item can be bought for. The price will go down in increments of 0.1 ETH every 15 seconds, until the items are either sold out, or the price lands at its resting price of 0.75 ETH.
