My first NFT sale. I became an Art Blocks enjoyoooor during the first AB "bear" in May 2021. When some of the projects I minted started selling for 10X or more it was hard to ignore. I sacrificed Frammenti #426 (Stefano Contiero), in the process getting my whole cost basis back. This also allowed me to buy a Damien Hirst Currency on top for free. No regrets
Here's where the pain is. July 2021. The whales are circling. It makes sense to take some meaningful (to me) value off the table. I figure an ambitious listing at 15X my purchase price (for what would be the second highest Sub sale ever) was wise for Subscapes #624 (Matt Deslauriers). When it was bought by notorious whale (latterly also provocateur and artist) Vincent Van Dough within seconds of listing I knew I screwed up. I now refer to her as my former girlfriend.
Fidenza #576 by Tyler Hobbs. A very lucky mint. One of the very best Party Time Fidenzas (a 9/999 trait). About two days after buying my Sub I was told VVD also wanted my Fidenza. This time it was serious life-changing money for me and my family so I gladly accepted the deal. In all honesty holding such a valuable piece was causing me a lot of stress. However, the Fidenza floor was around 15eth at the time and we all know what happened next. Still, I can always look at VVD's gallery if I want to see what esteemed company this piece is now keeping. No real regrets
Flowers by RVig and Transitions by Jason Ting and Matt Bilfield. With my new found liquidity I was able to go on a minting spree. These two open-edition projects at the time were a lot of fun to mint. Selling these pieces covered the cost of the other mints I've kept in my collection
Algorhythms #520 by Han x Nicolas Daniel. Another early mint for me. Had no real intention of selling but received a 35X mint offer and thought it made sense. The regret comes a month later when this piece sold for 30 eth, setting the All Time High for Algorhythms (still in the top 5 sales)
Lewitt Generator Generator #26 by Mitchell F Chan. My most recent AB sale. No real regrets here. All the eth went into other Art Blonks. This is the way.
