feet are sinking in the ground but heart's feeling light, almost empty.  a cold veil's layering my wet eyes, painting the world with dull colors.

Lost in paradise, she thought she was asleep. First time on this island; yet, she could sense the damp heat wrapping her synthetic cheetah skin. Weird plants; it felt like they were whispering to her ears. The sky is threatening; what an eerie place to be.

“MOOREA ✦” is my second animated piece.

Created for the #benjaminkato contest hosted on Twitter in July 2022. Theme was "olive, leopard, red". I chose to paint about a complex feeling I experienced in Martinique Island. Tropical twilights gave these spectacular oranges and reds.

Orabel is a French digital artist evolving in the NFT space since September 2020. Her language is magic and emotional. She speaks to her viewers through bold chunks of saturated colors about inner struggles, womanhood, healing and familial determinism. She believes that colors are the best way to depict the scope of complex emotions a human can feel.

for my 2021 birthday, my partner gifted me a skydive session. hours before the plunge, i was petrified, my stomach feeling skimpy, my legs, all shaky.

once i got released in the sky, a sheer sensation of total freedom vibrated in my body and soul.

for my 2021 Christmas, i experienced the exact same thing; but it was another kind of fall.

i took the plunge by quitting my job.

i let go of my security belt in order to pursue my fantasy. now i have no choice but live off from my art. the taste of freedom is scary, frustratingly concrete, indeed. how exciting and sweet, though.

mon anniversaire de 2021 fut couronné par le cadeau de mon conjoint ; un saut en parachute. quelques heures avant la chute, j’étais pétrifiée, mon estomac étriqué, les jambes faiblardes.

mais une fois lâchée dans le ciel, une parfaite sensation de liberté totale fit trembler mon corps et mon âme.

pour mon Noël de 2021, j’ai expérimenté la même chose ; seulement, il s’agissait d’un autre type de chute.

j’ai fait le grand saut en quittant mon travail.

j’ai débouclé la ceinture de sécurité dans le but de poursuivre mes fantasmes. maintenant, je n’ai plus d’autre choix que de vivre de mon art. le goût de la liberté est effrayant, terriblement concret en effet. mais qu’il est doux et excitant, malgré tout.

In this heart recess lie memories of you. Atmosphere is warm. Nostalgia suffused on these dust perfumed walls. A secret recollections sanctuary. There my healing grows, drip irrigated. But a piece is still missing: yours.

In this heart recess, a black hole hides. A word is enough to fade these walls, at times. Memories get this dark dye, full of despair. Your smile shadow crushes my heart.

When the furor pasts, I go back to gardening. These tears will fertilize these plants. They grow and with them, I go on.

Dans ce recoin de mon cœur vivent des souvenirs de toi. L'atmosphère y est chaleureuse. Les murs au parfum poussiéreux y sont empreints de nostalgie. Un refuge secret tapissé de mémoires. J'y cultive ma guérison au goutte-à-goutte. Mais une pièce manque toujours : la tienne.

Dans ce recoin de mon cœur se cache un trou noir. Il suffit parfois d'un mot pour que les murs s'y ternissent. Les souvenirs y prennent cette teinte sombre, empreinte de désespoir. L'ombre de ton sourire écrase mon cœur.

Quand cette tempête passe, je reprends mon jardinage. Ces larmes font un bon engrais pour ces plantes. Elles grandissent et avec elles, j'avance.

This piece in a few words. I lost my grand-mother this summer. We had a special bond because of her central place in my education. She was part of my inner balance. Her loss has been a big challenge ever since. This artwork is about this process.

Accepting my tears allow me to heal. But sometimes, the path of grief is dark and desperate. Eventually, emotions calm down until next pain hit. This endless loop conveys it.

This piece in a few words. “miroir du moi ✦ ” can be translated into “mirror of the self ✦ ”. It aims to speak about our intimate perception of ourselves in a world where identity is mainly built on social media. The piece adopts an artist point of view.

The constant exposure to notifications brings complex emotions such as pride, self-doubt, sense of belonging, imposter syndrome or craving for validation. If we're not aware, our inner voice can enhance the storm and be even more disruptive.

This night, she saw Maalaw in her dreams. The horse traded his coat for a crystal mirror veil. She found herself wearing a strange metallic gown, ornamented with neon accessory. The fantastic animal was gazing at her, peaceful, standing above a bougainvillea bed. The whole desert was stained in their fuchsia pink, framing a prismatic cotton sky. Greeting the creature, she felt prosperous and loving.

“prosperity ✦” is an artwork created for the 2022 Dakar Biennale. I was born in Dakar in 1995. A personal artwork representing my hopes for Senegalese future. The female protagonist dream is hopeful and prophetic: a flourishing path for Africa, thanks to the blockchain technology.
