In the Houston series, the rigid Cartesian grid of its urban center provides a uniformity that allows for the images to be displayed any number of ways with a similar sense of graphic order.

Drawing inspiration from photographers such as Bernd and Hilla Becher (and many of those that studied under them), Peter’s work aims to create a typological view of the urban condition of various cities as seen from the sky. By making use of newly available technologies, such as multi-rotor copters and satellite imagery for research, Peter is able to provide a visual commentary on the unique condition of each city, thereby creating a dialog between them.

On a very cold January morning in 2019, the Quadrantid meteor shower was scheduled to be visible over the dark skies of West Texas. Determined to find a unique perspective to document the shower while in such a beautiful part of the country, I ventured out before twilight to the permanent roadside art installation, Prada Marfa, by artists Elmgreen and Dragset and was treated to a stunningly starry sky filled with passing meteors.

Crossings (Venice) - by Peter Molick

During a solo trip to New Zealand and on the night of my 35th birthday, I made my way to this enchanting location on one of the southern most points of the country in hopes of capturing the lighthouse at Nugget Point under a moonless sky. 
Upon arriving, a sat on a perch above the path to the lighthouse and watched the sunset get enveloped by clouds which developed into a huge storm. Soaked and resided to not getting the image I had envisioned, I packed up and begin the trip back to my campsite. When I arrived and stepped out of the car, the skies had cleared and I made the decision to rush back for a second try. 
Under darkness, I made the short trek back to the spot I had been at before and was treated to an incredibly clear sky filled with the Milky Way above the circling lighthouse. I sat, watching and listening to the waves crashing below in awe, thinking about how fortunate I was to be in such a place and have this experience completely to myself and then took out my camera.
