In the new project, qubibi experiments and explores the idea of inverting a previous series entitled ‘MIMIZU’ - which led him to ‘wiwizn’. While ‘MIMIZU’ started out as an animation, the artist decided to create still NFTs to capture specific moments of the shapes and lines intertwining and emerging into each other. Their compositions are organic, abstracted and imbue a spiritual presence. They are colorful creations that range from chaotic and improvisational to careful and considered, seeking to show the deeper reality beyond the physical world.

The *mimizu Untitled* series brings together the largest single release ever assembled from this body of work in five years of their making. 

Over this time, the finest and rarest collectible worms have been cultivated and documented for connoisseurs visiting his storeroom. These organisms, their dwellings, and what they leave behind have been subject to Qubibi's nanoanalysis and generative processes, capturing the essence of mimizu. The main findings of this long-term study, and their leftovers, have revealed the inner technical nature of living tissue, decaying matter, and the eccentric tendencies of those drawn to these works.
This *mimizu Untitled* series embodies a range of styles across past mimizu, extending them into something new – and unlike anything else within the rapidly budding survey of generative art.

Last Tango presents the final iterations of mimizu – works that evolved from the qubibi’s "hello world” (2010) algorithm yet depart radically from their origin. The series marks the conclusion of the mimizu algorithm, as no further works will be generated from this system after this final exhibition at Nguyen Wahed Gallery in NYC.
 
Central to the exhibition is the premiere of the mimizu book – a formidable 600-page volume that chronicles this evolving body of work. Each of the 90 limited editions features hand-crafted binding and one of four distinct covers, three of which showcase previously unreleased works. Housed in bespoke red sleeves, with afterword texts by Mimi Nguyen and Casey Reas, these volumes materialize a long journey of digital experimentation into a tangible form.

Each collector of the unique digital artwork is eligible to claim the book via artfora by the end of 2024.

Kazumasa Teshigawara's mimizu began with a peculiar moment: feeding meat paté into code. What emerged were not mere algorithms but undulating forms with an uncanny vitality, marking the beginning of a decade-long obsession. Known as qubibi, Teshigawara has spent years perfecting these digital organisms that seem to dance between states of being – never fully tamed, never entirely wild.
