Analogue Sensibility. Generative art as a medium spans an array of different aesthetic expressions. While code and computers have their own techno-aesthetic often based on what is possible with classic 3D rendition, a lot of artists are more inspired by traditional art and the analogue feel that it contains.
The feeling can come primarily through the choice of palette, with more subdued colours often giving an analogue vibe all by itself
Sometimes they are rendered using graphic primitives at such small scales that it begins to appear as a texture
Or maybe the texture appears as an integral part of the system itself (the distinction is a gray area)
A different genre is to work algorithmically with patterns so entrenched in classic design and art that the analogue history is strongly present while experiencing the piece
Another interpretation is to witness the act of painting through code
