Screens: is a long form generative art series released on ArtBlocks Curated on January 31st, 2022.
The series is heavily inspired by the aesthetic of modern art, in particular the Bauhaus and Constructivism movements, but can also give vibes of abstract Sci-Fi art from the '60s
The rendering process of Screens leans heavily into silk screen printing, both in terms of how the gradients are created using grain, but also how the colours are applied layer by layer
As such, Screens is a meditation on the development in art production and distribution — The liberation of art, to some extent brought by mass production means such as silk screen printing, has found a current climax with digital sharing of art on social media — Further, the technological fusion of block-chain technology and generative art spearheaded by ArtBlocks means that everyone can now partake in the genesis of a body of work
Screens tries to both look back at the technologies and movements that moved art into the living rooms of everyday people, and look forward towards the technologies and art forms that will continue to push this trend
Composition: Screens plays with the emergent effects of geometric shapes intersecting in space and colour. The result can range from highly chaotic to balanced and harmonic
Emotions: The composition along with the vast range of colour palettes and ways to apply these colours means that Screens can evoke a wide range of emotional responses in the viewer
Space: The ways that the geometries and the colours interact also means that the feeling of space can be both strong and non-existing
