Description

Write a song about childhood misunderstandings of adult concepts, referencing specific memories like thinking there was a shark in a small pond ("THEN WHAT'S THAT SHADOW??"), believing "going steady" meant walking at the same pace, misinterpreting "making out" as arts and crafts, and copying romantic valentines card lines ("your beauty takes my breath away") at age 8. The song should capture the innocence of these misunderstandings and the humor they evoke in retrospect. It can also touch on how these early experiences shape our understanding of relationships and the world around us, and the weird selectivity of memory ("I can still remember my locker combination from middle school...But ask me what I did last Tuesday and I'm completely blank"). The overall tone should be lighthearted and nostalgic, perhaps with a touch of bittersweetness for the simplicity of childhood perception.
