Fear of heights. From the ancient Greek “acron” (height). Almost 20% of us are afraid of heights, also known as ‘suffering from vertigo’. Many scientist investigate this phobia, for some it’s a primordial fear that is useful for our survival. But many literary writers have also discussed it, including Milan Kundera in “The Unbearable Lightness of Being”: “Vertigo is something other than the fear of falling.
