About "Monika's Art":
My name indeed is Monika, and while I was born and raised on a farm in Germany, I had the chance to live and work abroad for 10 years in my first job. This led me to Austria, the UK, Dubai in the UAE, New Zealand, and -briefly- India. I am now back in Germany with my husband and our six tortoises.
We share a deep interest and appreciation for other cultures and languages, and we try to build bridges wherever we can.
A lot of inspiration comes from other regions of the world with an accent on Asia and Scandinavia.
I work as a practice manager of a small dermatology as a day job, and I had a little side business (just me) decorating cakes until recently. You'll find my IRL works on the web at www.tortenmaus.de and/or Instagram with the handle @tortenmaus.de for a look.
While I always created art throughout my life, I seldom dared to show it really, so the blockchain is indeed the first time I am 'outing' myself here - which is a huge step for me. Driven by life-long struggles with my self-worth, depression and anxiety, creating always has been and still is a way of expressing what is going on inside and cannot be expressed by words yet. This sometimes leads to spontaneous, creative outbursts, often changing the flow from my original intention. In most of the cases, finding the words for the title in the end is the expression of what was previously unspoken.
In the last more than 3 years, I have shipped some my canvasses all over the world, I have been exhibited in digital exhibitions on most continents, my artworks made it into almost 5000 collectors wallets, and I have met so many amazing artists, collectors, and new friends.
I'm glad YOU are a part of this journey, too. For this, I want to express my heartfelt gratitude.
